I know on the AICPA website it says if you take the exam before July 20, the target score release date is August 5. But that’s the target date… if I took FAR today, is there a possibility I would receive my score before then? Or is everything just released on that date?

Since the 5th is a Monday, we will most likely get our scores on the 3rd, the business day before. However, the last release (end of Q2) scores came out very late on Friday/early Saturday. Are you a NASBA state?

August 5 is the first score release wave of the quarter. Other than the possible business day before release, you will not get your score any earlier.
