Hello all fellow CPA examiners. Well, another score release and my (what it seems like) millionth 74. At this point I almost just laugh when I see it….and then I see the FAIL in “all caps” (thanks for the “all caps” NASBA) and it comes down to reality. And then I read my Score Notification Letter that says (and I quote unfortunately) “level of knowledge and skills that is sufficient for the protection of the public” is a score of 75. So now I get sad because I am a danger to society.

The point of my post is this… I have passed BEC and have taken AUD a couple billion times. BEC expires January 2014 and although it seems like a long time…it ain’t. Tax season is bearing down hard and before I know it…BOOM it’s May. Fast forward to July and I am expecting TWINS (for the record my wife is having twins not me) (For all the non-accountants out there TWINS means 2 exemption all at once). And by the by I already have a 9 month little princess rocking my world.

Again…the point of my post is I need a straight up BOOT CAMP to get this thing passed. I am motivated and have no problem with the materials (how many people just said to themselves “if he has no problem with the materials why has he not passed”?) I just need the structure and a program that forces me to spend the time to actually apply the material. (I think that sounds legit) I wish there was literally a camp to go study the CPA. I would be all in. Tax season ends….CPA exam camp begins. Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated. I need direction and a change in my habits. I know where I will end up if I keep on the same path and it is not the road the pass the CPA.

If you are still unsure about the point of this post I will sum it up in a standard message board format:

“Does anyone know a good CPA exam intensive study program out there that assists test takers pass in a short time frame?”

    Thanks all!

    -Tyler

Make an excel spreadsheet calendar and put all your lessons into it and stick to the schedule. It's actually nice cuz if someone asks me to go somewhere/do something, I can look at the schedule and see if I'm available or modify it appropriately. I refuse to ever get behind but I might change days here and there, but I make sure I am keeping up. I would be LOST without this. Sounds like something you could benefit from. Also, schedule your test before studying so you DO stick to the schedule.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

If you are already putting in the time and not passing, then time is not an issue. Is it the material? I found I learned certain material better by one provider than another (for FAR I switched to CPAexcel and finally passed – for everything else I used Becker). It it learning how to test? This test is nothing like a high school/college mid-term. For this test, read the question, answer the question! End of story. Don't read into it. Don't answer it like you might in the real world. Answer the question academically only. Are you understanding the core concepts? If not, go back and learn those first and foremost. Memorizing works well for about 10-20% of each test….if you know the core concepts before walking into the Prometrics door, you'll survive the other 80-90%. Good luck!

I just got my 1/7/13 BEC score…74. What do I do now? I already have REG scheduled for 2/25/13. I can't believe the soonest I can retake is April! I am still happy with my score…this is one I lost credit for and haven't taken since January 2011!
