I took REG on 1/22 and am taking BEC a week from today (2/13). I will find out both scores on the Feb 26th score release; which happens to be 2 days after my birthday and also during finals week. It certainly will be one of the most stressful days of my life. I'm praying for two passing scores as a birthday gift from NASBA though so that I could be done with this exam! Wishing everyone else luck as well.
February 7, 2019 at 9:41 am #2205313cgeyer90ParticipantThis release is the worst one yet. I find out if I am finally done or if I am back to studying until April. BEC is officially my least favorite exam! Good luck everyone!
February 7, 2019 at 1:04 pm #2205604CrammingWithKKParticipantTerrified for BEC on Monday 2/11… then the waiting begins
February 7, 2019 at 1:05 pm #2205613TerriSilvaParticipantwaiting for FAR…taken it way too many times! If I pass, I'm done…if not, I lose BEC. I am praying for a pass!!!
February 8, 2019 at 9:59 pm #2207746lILI889ParticipantWiting for FAR Re-take after 62%. I left too many blanks in the last 2 sims :/ ran out of time. research sims is correct, very confident. I focused on my weakest area when I was re studying. Will see 🙁
February 9, 2019 at 2:04 pm #2208652AlexisParticipantI'm hoping this is the last time I ever have to wait for a score. I passed BEC back in Q1 2017 before the exam had simulations. Then, I failed REG this past August Q3 2018 with a 71, which resulted in me losing BEC credit. I passed REG in Q4 and got the passing score on my 25th birthday! I just took the new version of BEC on 1/30 a few weeks ago. I need to write it here to speak it into existence.
Good luck to all of us!
February 9, 2019 at 2:12 pm #2208667CrammingWithKKParticipantHow was BEC? I heard B1 and B6 are 50% of the exam.
February 10, 2019 at 8:05 am #2209408AlexisParticipant@CrammingWithKK I'm not sure what B1 or B6 is because I used Roger, not Becker. I felt that my exam was actually an evenly mixed back like the blueprints say, but I would agree with everyone else – definitely know your COSO/ERM.
February 10, 2019 at 9:18 am #2209465Steven KParticipant@Alexis
B1 in Becker is Corporate Governance which consists of COSO, ERM, SOX. B6 is all the IT stuff.
If you have a minute or two to spare, could you maybe answer the following questions regarding BEC?
1.) Did you find that you had a lot of computational MCQ's or were they mostly conceptual?
2.) With regards to the IT portion, did you feel that Roger prepared you well? or did the IT questions seem like they were out of left field.?
3.) Lastly, would you say variance was a big topic on your exam?
Any suggestion you may have for the exam would be greatly appreciated. Taking BEC this Wednesday.February 12, 2019 at 7:24 am #2212570AlexisParticipant@Steven K
1 – Not to be vague, but I truly do feel like it was an even mix, but I will say I definitely used my white boards before I even got to the sims. Although I don't personally do this, I've heard others recommend you knock out your conceptual questions first, and then do your calculations as you'll have more time to work through them. I kind of got hung up on this one question for overthinking, so I maybe should have tried that approach.
2 – I thought Roger was fine both times for IT. I use ninja for MCQ, though, and I would definitely say there were some new topics regarding bitcoin/cryptocurrencies/Saas that were not covered in my Roger book. I remember specifically looking at the ninja book for these few topics only because they showed up in Ninja MCQ. Otherwise, I would not have known to look up information on them. However, if you don't have the Ninja book/notes for this topic, it will not be detrimental to you passing.
3 – Being that cost accounting is about 20% of the exam, I would recommend you definitely know your variances. I found that to be the major focal point in studying the cost accounting section of the exam, especially in the Roger book.
Last minute things that I studied on the night before the test:
Econ – understand monetary and fiscal policies and which ones would be used during inflationary/deflationary periods
Corporate Gov – COSO/ERM
FinMan – you need to understand what these formulas tell us. also know the basics like turnover formulas, liquidity formulas, costs of capital (debt and equity)
Cost Accounting – variances (REMEMBER!! “Standard Allowed for Actual”); also understand how goods flow in a manufacturing company (Raw Materials > WIP > COGM > FG > COGS)
IT – literally just definitions in my opinion
I think most importantly, I feel as though you just have to know how to interpret the question. On test day, I feel that the AICPA asks questions in weird ways, as compared to our review courses.
Hope this helps!February 12, 2019 at 9:17 am #2212726CrammingWithKKParticipantBouncing off Alexis's thought… I actually thought the exam was super uneven. IT was 75% of my exam. There was no escaping it. Disappointed I did not get any computation stuff. I felt like I took a definitions exam which I do not think Becker personally prepared me well for. Guess I will know for sure on the 26th.
February 12, 2019 at 9:24 am #2212729Green CPAParticipantWant to hear your thoughts…. took AUD yesterday. overall I felt pretty confident I know most of the questions and sims. but then the last two sims I totally guessed my way out. one of them was the DRS. do I still have a chance of passing?
February 12, 2019 at 10:38 am #2212780pwhite8388ParticipantI took it a couple weeks ago. I was the same as you on the SIMs. I thought they were all pretty manageable. The last 2 were difficult and I had to make educated guesses on those.
For MCQS, I definitely struggled. My first set was hard and I thought the second set felt about the same.
Based on your post, it sounds like you passed.
If I failed I know it wasn't by much and it would be due to MCQ performance.
February 12, 2019 at 2:53 pm #2213269MichaelParticipantJust took FAR today, this was my first time sitting for an exam and I feel indifferent on if I passed or not, definitely did not come out feeling like I aced it though. MCQ's had alot more short questions compared to the review material I was studying which seems to be normal based on reading the forums.
I am curious about the second MCQ testlet being harder or not. I had a lot more computational problems on the second testlet compared to the first so I am not sure if that relates to how I did on the first testlet (which had a lot of short conceptual questions). Can anyone explain their experience with the second testlet being more difficult?February 13, 2019 at 10:44 am #2214403TerriSilvaParticipant -
