FAR is killing me!

I’ve been studying for FAR for many months now, and I still can’t seem to get this stuff down. My problem isn’t comprehension, but rather my inability to keep all of this garbage in my head at once. I’ll do really well on a section and then forget everything I’ve learned a couple of weeks later. This is terrible. I’ve got to pass this section.

I’m on my third time through Becker.

I’m extremely stressed out and I’ve been getting daily headaches from this stuff. Seriously.

Any tips from the passers on how to master this stuff within the next 2 weeks?

Okay, I think I really need to start doing progress quizzes. For example, I am spending this weekend reviewing Becker F1, F8, F9, & F2.

    Next week, I'll review F3-F5. Perhaps while I review F3-F5, I should mix in some progress quizzes on F1, F8, & F9.

Does that sound like a good plan?

I am going through the exact same thing right now. I think I have something down and then see it a couple weeks later and it looks like a foreign language to me. Im trying to supplement doing random Wiley Test Bank questions to keep the info fresh in my head.

Its nice to hear Im not the only one going through this. Its just impossible to retain stuff from 9 sections for this long

    @pshustler,

I'm really starting to think that doing random questions is the key to retention. I'm going to give it a whirl this week and see how it goes. My plan is to do random questions on Mondays through Thursdays after work (maybe 90 questions) and then focus on specific chapters on Fridays through Sundays. I'll memorize my formulas during the two days before the exam, so that hopefully I won't forget them. I really hope this does the trick.

    FAR is such a monster!

    HI T-Rex,

I felt the same way while studying FAR. Study a chapter, then do the questions then move on. Then when it was time to review the questions again for my final review I'm like WTF what where I get the answer? What helped me was reviewing flash cards daily. The becker ones are ok. Make your own too for answers you get wrong or dont know what to do off instinct. Some of my older posts I complain about the same thing…hope you get this ! Rawr!

I am in the same boat guys! Just a couple of weeks ago I “thought” I had a good understanding of Bonds and Leases. Now..let's not even talk about it!

F5 is absolutely brutual….I am struggling through it right now. Leases aren't too bad but I dread bonds. So far this is the toughest section for me. I'm thinking F3, F5 and F6 are going to need to be reviewed the most but we will see.

    Hi, Herbie! Rawr!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm inspired by your success!

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it! I would recommend that approach to anyone studying for FAR. You really have to keep taking a step back and reviewing so that you don't forget everything.

Today's a better day. I ‘m feeling more optimistic. I'm identifying my weak areas so that I can focus primarily on those. I just can't focus on everything at this point because it's too overwhelming.
