Failed REG – should I study for REG again with TCJA or move on to FAR?

For those of us who studied for REG and failed, what do you recommend pushing forward with REG or moving onto a different section? I guess I am worried that the two different tax laws will get confusing to me since I just studied one and now have to learn the other.

Also, what are your study schedules?

Any advice at all, related to this or not, is greatly appreciated.

Retake 100%. I had to retake AUD and REG, and both times studying the second time I felt more confident and took less time because I had the gist of what the exam was looking for. I also recommend going over to the AICPA blueprints now that you have seen the exam. Goodluck to you both!

    FAR - 78*
    AUD - 66, 79
    REG - 73, 76
    BEC - 79

Im on the same boat, I got a 67 but not sure if I should move on. I scheduled BEC at the end of January. Should I focus on BEC or just go back to REG

What study materials did you use? I just passed REG with an 88 using only Becker. Becker had amazing MC practice questions and the sims were good enough. I cannot recommend Becker enough.

Also, I would retake. You shouldn't need to work too hard just brush up on your weak areas. But whatever you do be confident and do not quit trying. Good luck and keep grinding.

the issue is that REG changes, but are the changes substantial? I am not confident in passing

There are a lot of changes – it's mostly “this isn't deductible anymore” type of stuff.

NINJA Notes cover it pretty well in my biased opinion. 🙂

…and I wouldn't shy away from a retake…yes, there are a lot of changes, but it's still tax law – between the notes and the audio plus whatever else you're using, you'll be fine.
