This is my first section of the CPA. I took in Feb and got a 61. I took in May and got a 72. I took it in July and got a 74 :(. Does anybody have any advice on how I can pass? I have the becker self study. I’ve been through all the questions and lectures. Telling people is going to embarassing :(. Any advice would be much appreciated.

don't worry about 'embarrassing”. there is no embarassing around here or elsewhere. it seems like your score is improving. what i would suggest is simple. keep trying problems over and over again while reviewing notes. keep the big picture in mind. have fun with it a little bit, and think like a financial analyst. what would you want to see from financial reporting, analysis and valuation? look at the materials that way. pensions, bonds, leases, subsidiaries, etc. it won't matter. don't stress too much, learn from the right and wrong answers on your practice questions. you will pass next time, trust me.

You might want to try some new study material if you feel that you have all the Becker questions memorized by now.

throw another review program in there or buy testbanks

Definately need to supplement with a test bank…sounds like you got the major concepts down, you just need to practice applying them to test questions. Wiley test bank or Gleim is great for this added practice, and you wont just be memorizing answers because it will all be new to you.

Your scores are steadily improving so I think purchasing a cram might be just what you need. Also, with you being so close I think that just purchasing another test bank could get you there. I used both Wiley and Gleim and really liked them both.

I also found out I failed FAR for the 3rd time. I'm also using Becker. The night I found out I failed, I took the night off from studying and strategized. This time around I'm going to read each chapter and make notecards before I even hit play on the lecture videos. Then I'll sit down and watch the lectures and take any notes I may have missed. For the questions in each section, I will attempt them after each lecture. I will take notes on the ones I missed and if I score less than a 75%, I will re-take that entire section's worth of questions again. Once all sections are finished, I will take the supplemental questions and then attempt the simulations for that chapter.

I think it is too easy to fall into the trap of satisfying your study conscious by getting through all the lectures or questions as quickly as you can. This time around I'm going to take the extra time to ensure I really understand what is going on.

Thank you all the for the advice I appreciate it. I was looking at all the test banks and atleast it's going to run me atleast $90. I am not sure if I want to spend all that considering I am one point away. I was thinking of reading the chapters and doing all the simulations and questions again. I think one thing I need to do is make sure I have all the journal entries down for everything. I feel like my general concepts are strong but my journal entries are weak.

I will continue to try and hopefully fourth time is a charm.

putting any emphasis on the lectures is fruitless. I see a lot of people saying they watched the lectures like it means anything. Watch the lectures for the purpose of filling in the intentional blanks and the prompted notes. Other than that the lectures were worthless to me (unless it was peter olinto, he actually adds). The BOOK is useful though. Read the book, read the book again. Also, to assume you are 1 point away and shouldn't buy another test bank I think is inaccurate. You are 75 points away because tests won't be the same and you could get a whole set of questions you aren't familiar with.
