Exam Day Rituals

On exam days I make my coffee a little stronger than usual, put on my favorite t-shirt, and make sure im using my GPS to get to the testing center (even tho ive been there before). Somtimes i zone out a little thinking about the test on the way to the center and miss my exit off the freeway. With GPS, getting to the center is one less thing to worry about.

After the test I treat myself to a jamba juice, and have a really nice dinner at a favorite restaurant.

The day after my exam, i spend the whole day cleaning the house that ive been neglecting for weeks and weeks!

    @Calcpasoon,

Trying to study for Audit. A4 is killing me, so nice break to get on the forum. I totally agree on the house cleaning idea. For me, my exam is 8/30….the house will be dirty on the 31st—have to take a day off–but on the 1st–watch it I will be in cleaning mode.

I like the nice dinner after the exam….if you throw in a glass of wine–I will meet you there. LOL.

    Best of luck.

    Thanks Calcpa!

Same to you…how is the review going? I felt ok up until A4. GRRRRRR. I am not worried about time–this is my second try–I am most worried about the Sims.

    GL!

My ritual (based off the one exam I've taken, setting precedence):

-Set my alarm for 10:00 am just in case, wake up at 8 am on my own with the intentions of getting a good sleep

-Make a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs

-Mess around on the computer until it's time to leave, don't even fool myself that I'm going to get in some “last minute studying”, if I don't know it already I probably wont learn it this morning.

-Leave for the test center an hour early (it takes 20 minutes tops to get there)

-Listen to Porcupine Tree's Arriving Somewhere But Not Here on repeat (12 minute song, so not as bad as you think) with the seat back and eyes closed until game time.

    -Dominate that shit

-Drive immediately home, ask a buddy (who I've probably been ignoring for the past few weeks to study) to pick me up to be my designated driver for the rest of the very fun night ahead.

-Forget everything I learned over the past 2 months.

    REG: 85
    AUD: 74, 85
    FAR: 74 (sigh)
BEC: 80 (don't even ask me how)

When I say C-P you say 'Ayyyyy show me the money'

I actually just took FAR on sat, so today is my first day of review for Audit. Crazy! I KNOW! But this is my second time taking Audit…I passed it in 2009 but lost credit. I worked in public accounting (auditing) for 2 years, and I work in internal audit now. So I'm kind of hoping that I can cram and review from now until the end of the month, and Im hoping that my work experience in auditing will help me get through it. This is my last section, so i really wanted to squeeze it into this window. My plan is to use Wiley and Gleim test bank, make flashcards to help with the memorization points and review them during lunch, then do as many MCQ as I can for 3-4 hrs at night after work.

    @Phillop

“forget everything i learned in the last 2 months”. LOL, Thats exactly what I think happens to my brain the minute I walk out of that testing center!

    Exam day:

Wake up several hours before the exam, have a solid breakfast.

Drive to prometric and arrive there approx 2 hours before my exam. Sit in my car going over notes and last minute multiple choice questions(I do this mainly because when I did it for Audit I ended up seeing 2-3 questions on my actual exam that I had just seen earlier that morning in my car).

My car meal consists of a gatorade, 5 hour energy, and banana.

One last bathroom break while listening to some form of motivational music.

    Exam.

Walk out feeling like a truck just hit me, followed by me leaving prometric to get innebriated.

    I schedule early exams.

Wake up, drink some coffee, have some cereal, sacrifice a goat, take my boys to school and go straight to Prometric.

Hopefully my good luck charm, Heather will be outside smoking one of those tiny cigars.

    Pedicure scheduled for noon 😉

I will take tomorrow off to clean my nasty house (including blood splatter).

Of the five exams I've taken so far, I've not even taken a day off from work for them. AUD killed me because I worked until 2 (my exam was at 3) and I was back at work by 6. The others I've taken in the morning and been back to work shortly after lunch.

I'm taking the WHOLE day off this time! Its a miracle!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I like to schedule my tests for noon to one typically on a Friday. For this last section though Wednesday the 31st. I typically get there an hour to hour and a half early. I retread the Ninja notes, listen to Third day. Music may vary, my main habit since college has been a 16 oz Red Bull before every final/exam. Worked well so far.
