Don't want to check my score

    Current situation: BEC-passed, REG-took (score TBD), Audit-currently studying (April 2017), FAR-May 2017

Is anyone else currently studying for another part – got their scores emailed to them – and don’t want to open it…

That is currently my feeling. I received the “Score Notification” email and have not checked the result to my REG exam. I’m constantly thinking about it but I have failed too many times to know that I will just get too upset to continue on studying.

Also – does anyone have a theory on when they receive the email if that has anything to do with if they passed or failed… Example: receive the email in the morning means you passed or maybe receiving in the morning means you failed…… this is me being CRAZY and looking into it….. should I just let my nerves go and check my scores?

I’m at the point where if I fail again I will just quit.

I was the same way – you'll eventually look at it. It'll make you really happy or really sad.

If you find out it didn't go as planned, take the day off and tackle it again the next.

It'll definitely make you stronger as a person.

You cannot quit, it simply is not an option. I have only taken one exam, and thankfully I passed it, so if you want to disregard my opinion so be it. Think about it like this. Remember all of those times you spent your full weekend with your face in a book rather than doing something you enjoyed? All that time you had to say no to friends and family because you were studying? All the money you have paid for study materials, applications, and exam fees? If you quit now, every minute and every dollar of that was a waste. If you quit you have successfully given up quite a bit of your own money and your valuable time and you have absolutely nothing to show for it. When you go to apply for new jobs you will have no advantage over other people applying, quite the contrary actually because they didn't give up their time and money to not have a CPA. You passed BEC, your not stupid and you have what it takes to pass the rest. If you don't want to look at your score fine, but whether its a 35, 75, 81, or 103 is not going to change the ultimate outcome, which is you becoming a CPA.

I'm too anxious about it that I go online and check my score as soon as I wake up. I've seen my score emails come a day or two later, so I'm not sure it matters what time of the day you receive it. Personally, I'd just get it over with. You never know, and I'd rather avoid the stress of worrying about it.

If you fail, don't make any rash decisions of giving up. Take a day off and think of the reasons you're doing this and the benefits that will come from it.

As a person who's failed multiple times, I've been in your position. I thought of not only giving up on the CPA, but also switching professions. It's been hard but I've stuck with it and have passed two more sections. Just keep with it.

Well I haven't received the email yet and I failed so maybe you have hope!

It wouldn't hurt to not look at it until May though since you already have those other sections planned. If it's a pass..YAY. If it's a fail, get back to it in Q3 while awaiting the scores of the other two sections.

100% agree with Brett Evans. I have taken a total of 11 exams (passing 5, yep had to pass AUD twice). I started this journey the summer of 2014. This exam is NOT easy. Barrier to entry. Not everyone becomes a doctor, a lawyer or CPA. Do NOT quit. No matter what you feel now after seeing that score, it will be nothing compared to what you will feel years down the road from now if you quit. Wishing you would've just given it one more try. You've proven you can pass. Keep going! Pass or fail, it's just another shot at the exam and if it ends up being a fail, it's just another practice exam (really expensive one) that you can learn from.

WA state here. Each time I got my score notice to me 2 days after the score release online. So far, the minutes/hours

    5am-Pass
    8am-Fail
    10am-Pass

I know the 10AM one I took the test at the end of the range for the scoring period one and the 5AM one was right in the middle. I think the 8am one was as well.

Check the score. It's hard but you really need the information, especially if you're torturing yourself with the what ifs. Open the score. Promise yourself if you didn't pass you are going to continue putting effort into AUD. Promise yourself if you pass, you're going to continue putting effort into AUD. I've got my fingers crossed for you–anything helps right 🙂

Twice I took two tests in a window, and both times I did not check my score until I received both of them. It would have been too distracting studying for one while I knew that I needed a retake.

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016
    AUD - TBD

@Brett Evans and CPA Meow – great advice and well put.

Honest answer = check that shit immediately! Do you wanna suffer for multiple days or just a moment?

You are an adult. Accept the pass with hot weekend of partying.
If you fail, accept that fail with 2 days maximum of getting pissed. Use that as motivation and then get a hot weekend of partying in, reset your brain, and fix your weak areas. Then come right back and pass!

    AUD 84
    FAR. 78(expired/retake 5/9/16)
    BEC 77
    REG 76

Don't let a failing score discourage you. They count on a certain number of people quitting due to “difficulty” of the exam. Middle finger to letting them break you. If you quit they win, don't give them the satisfaction of breaking you.

I majorly getting screwed by the jerks that grade this test in that they failed me 7x in 2yrs. Then let me pass 3 in row, now they have failed me for REG 2X. Believe me I'm pissed but I'd sooner spend $20k then feeling like some pencil neck egg headed geek told me I wasn't smart enough to pass their highly questionable test. As you can tell for me it has gotten personal with the mystical grading crap

Thanks @KC22 🙂 Had to talk myself off the ledge of quitting this whole thing many times unfortunately so these are true words from the heart. But man, that final score when you realize you are DONE is like no other. Indescribable and worth all of those moments where you feel like a complete idiot for failing again. Seriously. Your future self will thank you for putting yourself and brain through TEMPORARY CPA hell. Haha!

Update: I still haven't checked …… I think I am going to wait the 2 weeks, take Audit, then check. I just don't want to lose motivation.

But thanks so much for the support – I will update you all when I find out!

@brettevans @CPA_M3OW @drumstick @wanna_B_TXCPA2014 Thanks for your great words it really does make me wanna keep going knowing that there's others out there who feel the way I do
