Yes! I'm so sorry you are both having trouble finding a job, but I'm relieved to hear it's not just me. I have a Masters in Accounting too. My undergrad degree is in dance so I went for the masters to help me change careers because I'm getting to an age where dancing is not going to be physically feasible too much longer. Before I decided to go back to school lots of people told me that a masters degree is the equivalent of a bachelors because it qualifies you to sit for the exam. I thought for sure if I could pass the exam, firms would get past my untraditional career path. Nope. It seems most of them recruit undergrads directly from universities (but not mine) and don't even look at you otherwise, not even for internships.
Luckily, I was only able to get a bookkeeping job after I graduated and I teach dance part-time to make it through, but I just got laid off from the bookkeeping job and it seems that most firms are done hiring now until after April again. It's going to be a tough winter. Employment agencies just want to place me at more bookkeeping jobs and get mad that I turn them down, but as I told them, the clock is now ticking on me fulfilling the experience requirements to get a CPA license.
Hang in there! Hopefully it will work out for us all soon.
