Don't give up. You will live all your life with that regret. Look at all the time you have invested. It is your future! It is your goal! Have faith. You will pass!!! You passed FAR and that's hard!!! If you passed FAR you can pass any test you want. Hang in there!!!!
BEC - Failed
FAR - 02/26/11
AUD - 2011
REG - 2011December 9, 2010 at 1:14 pm #264085
FARbehindParticipantcev,
don't give up yet. I think you should take both exams every window now until you pass. I realized that once you fail on an exam you should take all exams during each window, you don't have the luxury to take an exam each window any more. They made the 18 month window on purpose so that once people start failing they start losing credit and are just stuck like spiders in a net. Like someone said before this exam is not about knowledge, but luck, test taking skills etc. You have to beat the system by being persistent. It will pay one day.
aud,bec,reg-passed
far-->75 Done!!!!!

Your Said
“this exam is not about knowledge, but luck, test taking skills etc.”
I could not agree with you more!
I truely believe you could fail a test on the last day of a window, test on the first day of the new window and pass.
This processs is about being mentally tuff and spiritually fit. You have to understand that you are not in control, the AICPA owns you and you have to have faith that you will make it. I keep telling people they test more than your knowledge.
Pray and study. Then study and pray. Keep the faith.

rashParticipantCev,
Don't give up! I'm almost certain you passed Audit, if for no other reason, you took it on my birthday :-). Seriously though, listen to what everyone's saying, you have to continue. If you give up you'll most likely only regret it. Besides, you passed REG. For me, that was the scariestI I can tell you for me, throughout the entire CPA studying experience I wasted a lot of time re-reading material, figuring if I really get what I'm reading then doing the questions and simulations will be a breeze. Unfortunately, that wasn't really true. I never REALLY started getting the material until after I did a lot of multiple choice questions, which was usually only a few days before the exam, which left me incredibly stressed, thinking yeah I could pass, but if I only had a few more days, I could really get this stuff. Anyway, all in all, I'd say that way you should study for the sections is not uniformed…
This is what worked for me:
Read the materials watch lectures once or twice (don't beat it to death).
BEC: I made note cards with most of the formulas for Cost Accounting, ratios, and finance stuff and memorized them. I understood the concepts from the lectures and reading, but that was the only way I could get that stuff to stick since the exam isn't open notes.
FAR: I used the same strategy as I did for BEC, since it worked for me…. but I would also recommend practicing a lot of simulations. You obviously won't get the same stuff on your exam, but they help to drill the concepts and you also get used to looking at convoluted information on a computer screen.
REG: Gosh, I hated this section, but no worries, you already passed!
AUDIT: multiple choice questions, multiple choice questions, multiple choice questions!!!!!! It will eventually make sense!
Aud- Pass, BEC- Pass, FAR- Pass, REG- Pass.... Done!

rdaddesioParticipantHello Jeff,
I took BEC on 11/29 (second wave for the testing window) and was wondering if you may know when it will be released. I also just signed up for AUD for 2/28. I still have a long way to go for the remaining parts, and I'm so anxious to see how I did on BEC…Plus Busy Season's coming up! Thanks in advance.

AnonymousInactiveadcpa –
I had a medium, medium, medium…. It was the only test I had that felt the same way the whole way through. I passed with an 83.
Most people I have talked to have agreed that FAR is really hard to judge. Most people say that they left the test having no idea what just happend, and if they were going to pass….
I wouldnt get too high or too low until you get your score. FAR is SOO hard to judge. Good luck though!!!

adcpaParticipantHey guys, I just want to hear an opinion on something. Do you guys feel that a government position is more beneficial than a public accounting position? I am a recent graduate and wanted to hear “more experienced” opinions on this matter.
Thanks alot

Sdb2fsuParticipantI totally agree with Jeff. I've been a government “accountant” for ten years and although I've learned a lot, I feel like I am definitely missing the public accounting world.
BEC - 60, 71, 79
AUD - 73, 66, 87!!!!! Yes! I am done!
REG - 74, 76

SusanParticipantIs there anyone else out there who can pass the exams but can't get employers to give a job offer? I'm thinking of giving up on accounting… I couldn't get an internship, and now I can't get a job cause I don't have the experience (and I can't get experience without a job).
Any advice???
AUD(8/3)-87
REG (8/31)-90
FAR (10/18)-92
BEC (11/30)-89December 11, 2010 at 11:37 pm #264097
Sdb2fsuParticipantOnly thing I would suggest is to just keep putting applications out there. You may have to forfeit a big starting salary for a foot in the door.

AnonymousInactiveSusan,
I graduated in May with a Masters in Accounting and I dont have a job!!! š Not even one interview..
A private employment agency told me that I was “overqualified” for a job with them and that I dont have experience!
Im sending appllications to all accouting jobs in town (even the 8.00 per hour)!! š
Maybe, 2011 will be a better year looking for a job!!! Keep applying for jobs!! and Good luck!!!
