TrevorParticipant@bn-nj – to answer your question… the test cannot give you a grade faster because of the scaling… each window the same question can be worth a different amount of points then it was in the previous window based on the answers. If the testing window did not close till the 7th for BEC or even as late as the 12th, and there are 12,000 candidates for BEC that takes a lot of computing power. This along with the fact that only about 50% of people will pass, and also do not forget about all the administrative stuff that needs to be done before and after your exam is scored…
BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

pray475ParticipantI am well aware that my spattering of comments on this website is going to do nothing to change the system, and I am just repeating the discontent of thousands of CPA candidates before me…BUT WHAT THE EF! You charge us an insane amount of money to take an exam that is tops on the list for the most screwy formats, you have to pay just to get a number to allow you to schedule a test, you then have to pay for each individual tests, if you end up with extra time left over on your first NTS common thought would think you could just add an extra test on the end but no no no my friend, that's a no go. And then, on top of all that, the countless hours of studying, the missed events and opportunities, you take an exam…which somehow ends up feeling like it is going to determine the rest of your life which really it's not because lets face it CPA or no CPA, were all going to end up alright with bachelors and masters degrees in a field that isn't going anywhere…but on top of all that they “deem it reasonable” to make you wait an obnoxious amount of time to receive your score…what other testing process doesn't at the least give you a date on which you will receive your score, ESPECIALLY for BEC…a 90 test multiple choice test, I mean my math teacher in highschool could grade my entire final in 3 minutes…and that was 120 questions, so who is the AICPA and NASBA kidding, how can they justify it to us in any way shape or form? its tortue, and that's the short of it…

The BEC exam is not adaptive….the questions don't get harder as you go. It's the only one that doesn't.
See the chart on page three of this .pdf link.

MinnieParticipantNo problem! I didn't know that either until I saw someone post it on here just before I took the exam. Just hate seeing someone feeling like they did bad because of that. =)

AnonymousInactiveThis is what I hate about this exams… 15 questions out of 90 don't even matter?!

MC-FutureCPAParticipantMinnie – Thank you so much! That was the one factor weighing on me when trying to gauge how I feel I did on the exam. I did notice the testlets get harder on AUD so not seeing that happen on BEC while feeling like I knew most of the material was a big concern. *Phew* What a relief!
Probably Couldn't and Wouldn't Want To Pass Again!!

MinnieParticipantNo problem. I think that should flash real big on the screen at the Prometric center before you take the test! I wonder if that has anything to do with the lower pass rate for BEC? I bet a lot of people don't know that and it freaks them out that it isn't getting any harder and they think they are doing poorly so they kinda give up…..Well let's spread the word! hahaha

I might be drinking a little longer….I'm in Texas and we don't usually get our scores until the next morning after NASBA releases. So if AICPA releases today, I won't know until Thursday morning. Gosh I hope they release today. My kid is having his tonsils taken out early Friday morning and I certainly don't want to be worrying about my little guy AND my score! Good Luck to you all!

I felt the exact same way leaving BEC. I studied a lot for this exam, as it was my first one and I wanted to make sure I got off to a great start. I went in feeling very confident, and I knew the Becker material inside out. I walked out feeling helpless and confused as to how I could get that much stuff I didn't know on an exam I thought I would do great on. The IT questions were really out of left field.
I've read a couple people post they left BEC feeling they failed miserably and ended up actually doing very well, so who knows? Hopefully it works out for the best.
