Mini I know it may be different in MA than for you in CA, but do you have to “apply” and pay the fee (assuming there is one I am not that far into it yet obviously) then wait to get the ok to take it, or do you just sign in, plop in your debit card number and start answering?

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

@ mIa – The latter. In fact now that I think about it. I'm not sure you even need to be qualified to sit for the CPA exam. This was the process for CA:

    1. Go to CalCPA site.

    2. I think you need to register for a username and password (i already had one)

    3. Find the Ethics course/Exam … Self-Study something something

    4. Pay with credit card – like $125 or $150 depending on member vs. non-member

    5. The next day the self-study course shows up in your account. It contains both the study materials and a link to the exam.

    6. Take the test

    7. If you pass (90%) then you get your score and certificate…..if you fail you get two more tries.

    8. CalCPA automatically informs CBA (just make sure your name and address matches up on both accounts)

lol baseball. I do what I can. Just trying to mix things up to keep things interesting. Too many people on here are either just completely clueless or are just sooo serious/boring. I get along great with the people who don't take everything so seriously and can just roll with the punches.

Yesterday I went to a seminar to get some CPE credits. The average age of the people in the room was 105.

A lady from the state boards/licensing was giving her speel and discussed the “new” CPA exam format. She actually said. “Who in here took the written exam? Man, these candidates have it made now”. The room erupted with laughter.

    Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Then she went on to say we have online authoritative literature to look up information and made it sound like we could do that for the entire exam.

“And pass rates are significantly higher”.

I just sat there and bit my tongue because I am still shell-shocked from Tuesday's REG experience. I wanted to stand up and tell those old farts what's up.

UGH! Oh my God…that is SO frustrating…what is it with older CPAs who are always pulling the whole, “walked uphill both ways in the snow” bs when they're talking about the “good ‘ol days” of when the CPA exam was written and all that junk? It really frustrates me because I took the stupid parts while I was getting my masters degree and teaching an intro to managerial accounting course at the same time. I had to work my tail off and these big old bags of dust just sit around and say, “well congratulations, I guess, but you certainly don't have to do what I had to do when I became licensed”. I feel your pain, Allyson!

@mini, Hahaha I'm an idiot. I know I've seen your name like a million times before…and I was kind of thinking like, “Wow, you've been new for a really long time!” but I answered anyway…too much studying and not enough oxygen to the brain. 🙂

On a side note…..I'M SICK OF WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
