Studying for BEC is almost impossible right now. Waiting on my REG score is killing me! If I failed REG I'm going to move BEC back and start preparing to retake REG while its fresh on my mind.

determined- how did you think you did on REG? how were your Sims? mine i felt were very difficult.

I have been a lurker for a while but this waiting on scores is killing me. I have so much work to do and all I can do is look on the internet. I am about 98% sure that I didn't pass BEC but I just really want to know.

To kill time….what are the theories behind your score not being released with the first release. I had two theories at first. #1 – Because I failed and only passing scores were being released. #2 – Because I took the test the second to last week the window was open. That theory was blown up when I talked to someone who took their test the week after me and got their failing score last Friday.

Any other conspiracy theories?? 🙂

@ Broadway – The REG sims were a killer. I have been a tax accountant for 4 years and I walked out of those sims completely blown away. Two of them were no problem but the rest took me by surprise. It's not that the sims weren't in the study material but I would have never expected those topics to be in the simulations. I got at least 90% on all Becker sims and was not in the least prepared for the actual test sims.

Could I have said/typed sims one more time in the above paragraph??? 🙂

@MOM2THREE- I totally agree. I felt the exact same way. I couldn't believe they tested some of the material that they did. I guess we can only hope that those were only “test” questions.

When I took Reg last quarter my sims were AWFUL…I have also been a tax accountant for a combo of 4 years. I went industry for 3 years in between. I walked out and said “well guess I'll be taking that one again”. When I got my score and saw I did better on sims than the passing candidate I was SHOCKED!! Those sims were items that I've never even seen in real life….and I don't ever remember any of the material being in Becker or Gleim. But I passed that exam and I hope I never have to sit for REG again….I already have 3 times…

Felt the exact same way about REG sims. I have been working in tax for years and have never had some of the situations that were presented to me on the sims. Becker did not even cover 2 of the topics- AT ALL- not even ancillary material!

I do taxes too. I felt totally unprepared for 2 of my sims. One was a FAR topic that I didn't even know when I studied FAR and the other was some obscure calculation that I never have to do. I asked my father about it in his 40 years of doing taxes and he said he has looked it up ONCE!

They are not testing us on the meat and potatoes. They are seeing how difficult they can make this exam. I don't see how anyone could get the sims correct.
