@rmsaemie it took me maybe 10 hours in total.
For Illinois you need to use the AICPA’s Professional Ethics: The AICPA’s Comprehensive Course. I purchased the book which has its exam questions at the end of the book. I copied the questions to make it easier to take in one sitting. You then can go online to AICPA’s CPE Grading to enter your exam question answers. While you are answering the evaluation questions the system grades the exam and you have real time results. You must have 90% or greater to pass (can only miss 4 questions). Make sure you tell AICPA to send your score to Illinois. You can print your certificate of completion right away.
In terms of material, it is a lot of what you study to take AUD and REG. Stuff like the AICPA’s independence rules and IRS Circular No. 230. So I found that I knew most of the material already. At first I found 5 questions I was not confident on. I went back and re-read those sections which helped me firm up my answers to 3 questions. I then felt confident that if I missed two questions, I would still pass.
