LetsGoCPAsMemberThis is ALL I have to say… AICPA and NASBA are all full of crap….. They dont grade the tests…. they are all computer graded. So why are they making it seem like they are hand grading them?
The only one a person looks at is BEC…all others are computer graded. SMH they just look for every reason and excuse to keep our grades.
Meanwhile, I just took REG 2 days ago…. hmmm I hope I dont hear some BS about them not getting my exam, since I took it in the midst of Sandy (but took it in FL), My AUD expired yesterday, so they better not tell me they didnt get my exam!!!.
AUD - 79
FAR - 83
BEC - 77 (borderline baby...its true!!)
REG - 74 🙁 I know...sucks... retook it on Oct. 30thNovember 1, 2012 at 5:52 pm #385842
AnonymousInactiveoccams_razor – i totally agree.
I know its frustrating to wait another week but its nothing in compare to people who lost so much in Sandy.
We dint have power for 3 days and it became so hard to do normal routine work
My heart and prayers goes out to those who are suffering , i can sacrifice one week .. Its not a biggie guys! 😀

AnonymousInactiveI think the AICPA should have had proper internal controls including contingency planning and a hot-site so business continuity would be acheived. I agree with Little Moe this is poor contingency planning on the part of the AICPA!!!
Well there goes my passing grade. (THEY KNOW WHO WE ARE THEY KNOW EVERYTHING) Shut up stop talking inside my head…. Who said that???

patelneil89MemberAll we can really do is start to study for the next test. I have family without power in New Jersey and the weather has been cold lately. Our lives will not end if we find out our score a week later, just relax, study and keep working on what you are doing.
FAR - Pass
AUD - Pass
REG - Pass
BEC - PassNovember 1, 2012 at 6:13 pm #385845
jcoley3411Memberlol not if this is your last test. all we can do is sit here and be upset because they didn't formulate a back-up plan when they knew a hurricane was headed for them for over a week in advance.
BEC 79 PASSED
FAR 75 PASSED
AUD 67, 77 PASSED
REG 73, 83 PASSED DONE FOREVER!November 1, 2012 at 6:22 pm #385846
spongfunkMember@jcoley3411- You're dead on. I hadn't thought about it that way but you're absolutley right. We knew about Sandy for well over a week. We knew exactly how large it was and where it would make landfall. Evacuations were ordered days in advance and the AICPA didn't even think “hmm maybe we should transfer our data to another office just to be safe”. If it weren't so pathetic it would be laughable how unprepared they were.

occams_razorParticipantWhile I agree the back up plan was poor, if one existed at all, it still seems like the kind of thing that isn't done so easily. It's not as if it's an excel sheet wit all our info and corresponding section id numbers and the grade we got. I have to imagine there's a whole host of security and red tape to go through before moving something of this importance. Yes, outside looking in, it sounds like a simple idea. But there's no way we could possibly know the difficulty with which it would require to do that. While it seems easy, it very well could have been extremely difficult, or maybe it was easy and they were just negligent about it, but to make claims of the ladder with no proof is kind of rude and a waste of time.
Let's not forget that the entire state was hit with a large hurricane and people died. I'm anxious for my grade too, but not so much that I want the employees at the NJ office to put their lives in danger any more so than they already have been, just so I can get my score a few days earlier. Let's all just be calm, there are far worse things that could be happening right now.

jcoley3411MemberI just wish they would have made it appear like they tried to move the info before the hurricane or that they at least wouldn't wait until one day before the scores come out to let us know that in fact now they won't come out. I think that determination could have been made prior to today.

StarlightMember@occams_razor, we're not asking anyone to put themselves in danger, we are just disappointed by how the AICPA handled this. They should have offsite backups to enable them to access the information from any of their offices. Someone in Durham should know how to send the scores to NASBA, whether or not the system is complex there should be a viable backup in place.

AnonymousInactiveI can speak from experience that while this is very traumatic and hard to deal with if they had a proper backup plan this could have been avoided.
I work for a medical facility in a town that has been affected by two hurricanes in the past 7 years. One was a direct hit and we flooded. Most of our town was without power for two weeks and no one was allowed back in unless you were first responders. The second time we didn't receive a direct hit but had the storm surge and again our facility flooded.
We do nightly backups of all data and each day we send the backup tape to an offsite facility. Had that facility had power during the first hurricane we could have been back up and running immediately. The second time since we didn't have that direct hit we were back up and running at another location the very next day.
If we had a location in another city such as the AICPA does then the first time we could have been back up immediately as well. It's not that hard to have a contingency plan in place.
While I am seriously bummed that I won't get my scores, I do have empathy for what everyone is going through because I have been there twice. But seriously, I know what it takes to have a good backup plan and given the fact that the AICPA has multiple locations they could have sent the data to another location.

I completely agree with you, there definitely should have been a better back up plan in place. There's no argument from me on that one. The only point I'm trying to make is that worrying is like rocking in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do without really going anywhere. That is to say, stuff happens, there's no point in burning NASBA at the stake cause there's nothing we can do about it now but wait.

CPAforXMASMemberNobody here is downplaying a hurricane and the magnitude of some people's losses. However, we are allowed to be upset that our scores are not coming out tomorrow. Personally, this is my last exam and the wait has been causing me so much stress it's not even funny. So please, stop telling us how horrible we are for being upset. We can be upset if we want to be. I am!

spongfunkMember@taylorx08- I totally agree. Everybody needs to get off their high horse and stop condeming people who are discussing the score relase and not the hurricane. Talking about how bad the storm was and saying over and over again “just pray for the victims” doesn't do a whole lot either. We are all accountants. Our jobs rely on efficiency and productivity, so when the organization that is our governing body fails to demonstrate those same skills we exercise everyday it's not only frustrating but a little embarassing as well.
