My thinking is that they don't know what's difficult until they grade all the exams and see how many got specific questions correct or wrong. They then assign points based on this assessment and your score is calculated that way. I think everyone is measured against each other for MCQ and even the SIMS. If 9/10 people get a questions wrong and you get it right, you get more points than if you got an easy question correct. Even when they throw the hard test lets at you, it might be based on past analytics of a lot of people getting those questions wrong, but your specific review course may have shifted coverage to where those questions are now easy and they have to reassess. I basically think your grade depends a lot on what the next person did in comparison.

    FAR - 93

that isn't right unless the AICPA is flat out lying to our faces, which I don't think they would do. they explicitly say there is no curve, your performance is not based off of a comparison with how well others did this testing window, it's based off of pre-determined metrics they developed somehow, in part by using pretest questions, before they asked them as actual exam questions.

They already have the data on the questions before you sit down– that's why there are pretest questions.

I don't know how other standardized tests do it, but maybe they don't have as many different versions, don't change the tests every quarter, and/or don't have adaptive testing that gives you a harder testlet based on how you did on the previous testlet.

@Kimboroni Yes, I know they already have data on the questions, but I still believe they reassess questions after every wave based on new data. I have no clue how these things are graded, it's just a thought.

Hello! I took the test on 7/21, when should I expect the score release? That date is the start of cut off so does that mean I have to wait until 8/21 or I can start checking after 2 weeks from the exam date?

Yes, you have to wait until 8/21 if you are in a NASBA state (and longer if not). That's the NINJA predicted date for people who took the test from July 21 – August 15.

Thanks Kimboroni! I hope I will be included in the 40% who passed this quarter, when they decided to adjust the score.

Quick question: I am planning on rescheduling my Aug 9th FAR exam, however I noticed that on the NASBA website, the next cut off date is AUG 15th (https://nasba.org/exams/news/2014-q3q4-score-release-timeline/) whereas on A71, it says AUG 15th:

    July 21 – August 15, 2014 Exams

Official Target Date: Friday, August 22

    NINJAs Say: Thursday, August 21

If i were to schedule my exam Aug 15, does anyone know if I would still be able to receive my score by 8/22?

    thanks

PS. Jeff should really change the picture of that “frustrated” lady on his link up above….just saying 🙂 We are all already frustrated, a nice calming picture would be nicer to look at.

It says Aug 14th not Aug 15. I wouldn't risk it, so I'd take it the 13th at the latest because I have zero patience.

Waiting for REG. PRAYING for a pass. First time I took it, I literally just ended up guessing on a lot and SIMS were a disaster, thought I would score in the 40's, ended up with 68. So logically this time I should hit 75 coz I did really good on the MCQs. SIMS were slightly better…lets see! Good luck to all!
