For those who have passed (not just BEC- any section), which do you believe is more important- lectures or mcqs?
For REG I thought I spent too much time on lecture, not enough on mcqs. BEC was more even, although I did not quite get through all the mcqs. I am wondering if I should focus more on Wiley mcqs while prepping to re-test.
THANK YOU GUYS! I HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINED THE LAST FEW DAYS WAITIN FOR SCORES AND YOU GUYS MADE IT BEARABLE…ESPECIALLY AT @ihatestudying and @ddrum…CONGRATS TO ALL THAT PASSED!
@CPAJEN…. i know you arent asking for study material recommendations..but…. i was using wiley, and yaeger, and then i used wiley test bank etc……i finally switched to exammatrix to switch it up..and i passed 3 in a row….just an idea..affordable..no lectures though (if thats how you learn) but its an adaptive software that generates study sessions based on your weak areas etc….
everyone is different and some poepl might say it sucks…but it seems to have been working…im going to order it for FAR now.
Thanks, @ihatestudying- I will try that. Since it appears that what I have been doing is not quite enough, I will try just about anything. I am 40, so I would rather get this done sooner than later. Not to mention the cost savings.
Actually, while doing the mcqs, I rely heavily on the Wiley reports so I can focus on my weaker areas, so it sounds like this will be right up my alley.
@CPAJen I think it depends on how you learn. I don't learn from lectures very well. I tend to tune them out. I only did Wiley books, ExamMatrix (MCQs) and Ninja Notes/Audio. I learn better from working through the Wiley book in order to get a basic grasp of the concepts. Then I move on to MCQ's in ExamMatrix. That helps strengthen my knowledge while working MCQ's in random order. When I am moving through the MCQ's I can see my weak areas and I go back to those sections in the Wiley book. I re-write the Ninja Notes toward the end and add short notes to them as I work the last week or two of MCQ's. I listen to the audio whenever I am driving, cutting grass, at work or working out. Basically every spare minute I have the audio on.
