CPA Exam Pass Rates for Q3 2013 Released; BEC hits 58%

you guys seen this update from A71? makes the CPA exam seem like a joke…it’s the equivalent of you earning a 92 on a college exam just to find out majority of the class also got A’s…

I think a better way to gauge the difficulty would be to look at the pass rates for all four sections on the first attempt. I've seen historical figures around 20%, are there any recent ones?

    BEC 85
    AUD 99
    REG 88
    FAR 93

It seems that no one releases official figures of how many pass on the first attempt…it's all just guesstimates. But, there's no doubt that it's a difficult exam. If they start giving out the CPA designation just cause you showed up for a no-test, 2-day seminar, then we can all rage…until then, we're still having to study a lot and pass a crappy test. It's still going to have value. And…except for CPA candidates, very few people look at those pass rates. People currently don't know how tough it is to pass all 4 parts; if they make it easier to pass, then it's not going to make us seem more worthless, just *maybe* make reality be a bit more in line with public opinion!

Happy to say I was in that 58% :). Really doesn't bother me, although I did feel better passing AUD and REG earlier this year when the pass rate was <50%. The way I see it, 58% sounds about right for that dumpster of a test. It's the sort of stuff that's good to have general knowledge on, but no one should be denied a CPA license because they don't know that sort of material (sorry everyone that failed)

    REG - 80 (2/28/13)
    AUD - 68 (5/24/13), 84 (7/11/13)
    BEC - 83 (8/29/13)
    FAR - 70 (12/04/13) 80 (2/10/14)
