you guys seen this update from A71? makes the CPA exam seem like a joke…it’s the equivalent of you earning a 92 on a college exam just to find out majority of the class also got A’s…

when so many people pass the exam, it degrades the value of your pass. kinda like Harvard all of a sudden letting in anyone with a 3.0. i'm out of analogies.

There is a huge demand for CPA in US and worldwide to produce the kind of good stuff in the area of auditing, corporate governance ,best accounting practice etc for the economy .Can you imagine if every small business had a CPA on its board/management team what a great multiple effect it will have on the US economy. The pass rates is still low and few people are not completing the exams . Once a candidate demonstrates sufficient knowledge ie 75% of the CSO in any exams they should be given a pass even if it means 100% candidates did so. No attempt should be made to cut down any number just to achieve low pass rates/curve!!! to show that ” CPA exam is not a joke”. so @CannotPassAgain I totally disagree with you, what you want is LOW pass rates!!! even when a candidate has demonstrated more than 75% of the CSO during the exams.

I think this is a little overly melodramatic. A 58% pass rate for one exam in one quarter is not degrading the value of the pass and/or the value of the CPA designation. Like MrsBing said, 58% still isn't great. Try telling the 42% who didn't pass that the CPA exam seems like a joke…

BEC has the written portion, which might have the impact on the pass rate that it did. I wouldn't read to much into the pass rates, and instead put your brain focus on the study materials. We aren't going to figure out how this exam is graded, because we aren't given enough material/information to figure it out. So study everything and don't waste time trying to figure it out.

    Good luck everyone!

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

I think a better way to gauge the difficulty would be to look at the pass rates for all four sections on the first attempt. I've seen historical figures around 20%, are there any recent ones?

    BEC 85
    AUD 99
    REG 88
    FAR 93
