Continue to study?

I am waiting on 2 scores (FAR and REG) and am having a difficult time with motivation to keep studying as these are potentially my last 2 exams. I took FAR last week after only 3 weeks of studying and actually feel pretty good about my chances compared to last time. I was extremely prepared for REG which I took in early May but feel like I may have bombed MCQ and will be lucky to reach a 75, although it seems like a lot of people feel that way about REG and still pass. If I wait, I still have over 2 months after the scores come out to fit 2 possible retakes in. Anyone else struggling with this? I just want this to be over!

@ThePeoplesChamp, you are not alone! I took BEC back in April and I have not looked at it in a month. I am praying for a pass! 🙂

@ThePeoplesChamp- Waiting on two scores this session as well (FAR and AUD). I haven't looked at anything for either since, and I don't plan to until the score release. I can't justify studying for something you might have passed. Then again, I'm not in a bind on having scores expire. If you are worried, I might do a few progress tests or something just to keep some of the topics fresh, but I wouldn't overdo it in the meantime.

Good luck, hoping we're both done June 28th!!

@ThePeoplesChamp- Im in the same boat as you. I felt pretty good after my FAR exam but you can never tell if you pass or not untill you see the score. at this point I am just doing around 100 mcqs a day to keep the materials fresh. this score release delay is such a drag. everyday that it goes by i am like doubting myself.

I should add that I wasted 15 days doing this when I took BEC at the end of Q1 and thought I failed only to wind up with a 79. Those 15 days would have been useful for REG! @Chandler yeah, I am having a tough time justifying it as well, especially now that it's Summer and I have studied for the last 6 months straight with no real off days.

I thought about it too. I opened up NINJA MCQs to do a set and closed it immediately, definitely not ready. Since it's my last one and don't have another one to potentially prepare for technically I have nothing to lose but time, I was going to do a few MCQs when I got into work early anyway since it's a little slow now, but as I mentioned my brain's absolutely not prepared to jump into REG again just yet, plus it would be half-hearted if that for me personally. Through tax season and my newborn, I kind of had this one as a throwaway but I was able to put in more studying than I planned so even though I am pessimistic I still retain an inkling of fleeting hope. Good luck everyone.

    Yes!

But in your case I would recommend two things.

One, study REG rather than FAR as you've studied for FAR twice already. Plus, you sound fairly confident on that score.

Two, move around in the review system a lot and only strive to avoid forgetting what you already know…rather than trying to actually learn more. The reason is because if you fail you're going to have to do a reboot anyway. Reviewing without going non-stop, full-on does two things. First, it protects the knowledge you have, and second…it doesn't overwork your brain too much in case you do fail something and need to do the whole reboot/starting over thing.

In a perfect world, we would walk out and feel like the last test was a 95+ and we could just chill. Unfortunately, I felt like/predicted about a 77-80 when the last test was over so you can see the need to keep going a bit. I ended up with an 84 on my last section, but still studied a bit because I would have felt like a fool if I had ended up failing and forgotten a bunch of stuff…especially with the score release delays.

I'm waiting on Reg score and have only BEC left. I'm not very confident I passed reg, so I've debated whether I should move on or not… But I have a year before anything expires, and it's only 2 weeks to wait at this point. So I am going to go ahead with BEC, and maybe a few reg quizzes here and there, and cross my fingers.

Same. I took REG in June and planned on studying BEC and then re-do REG if necessary next window. But, wondering if that's a good idea or just keep REG fresh in my brain. So, I'm studying BEC lightly and really hoping I don't need to take REG again.

In the same shoes as you're in now – I took AUD and BEC this quarter. It really depends on your schedule/study plan. Regardless of when we take the exam in Q3, we will not find out our scores until late Sept.

Low and slow is for bbq not studying lol. You should be able to crank out retakes in your sleep at this point.

I am in a similar situation to the @The People's Champ. I am waiting on both my FAR and REG score, but I do not feel confident at all on either or. I keep telling myself I need to keep studying just to keep it fresh, but I am so mentally drained that I just need a week or two to recoup and go back at it in case I fail. If by some miracle I passed both, then I will be done, but I am prepared for the worst because the CPA has killed all my confidence.

I'm taking a break this week. Immediately after my FAR retake I started REG. I've been reading a little when I have absolutely nothing to do, but I guess I'll study REG for the two weeks leading up to score release. Praying for a pass on both so I can throw the book against the wall!

@ICanandWillCPA one of my favorite parts about passing is throwing stuff ha. My life is so busy and studying requires so much logistics with having a wife and 8 month old son that I probably am just going to throw the towel in until score release. Not worth the stress anymore

@ThePeoplesChamp, take the time off your wife and son deserve it. It's only two weeks at this point. I can't imagine trying to study with a young child. It was hard enough being single with zero commitments.

My bf and I just took FAR and he mentioned that he was going to still study for it. We're both studying for AUD next and I dont see the point in studying for FAR …. I feel like it makes sense now to just utilize our time in AUD and if God forbid one of us has to take FAR over again .. we can implement that into our study plans

to do it before even receiving the test just doesn't make sense to me. Unless a person is 100% confident that they messed up big time on the exam and he didnt feel that way !!!!!
