COLLEGE CREDITS

This question is probably posted somewhere else on this blog, but I just can’t seem to find it at the moment…

I graduated from an accredited college with 120 credits in 2007; I know they are changing the college credit requirement from 120 to 150, but I am confused about the “rules” about this…

So then I basically HAVE to pass at least one part of the exam by the end of THIS year in order to be grandfathered in to the 120 credits? And if I fail my test I have scheduled in November, I have to go back to school to obtain 30 more credits? Is that correct???

OR is it if you get an NTS before the end of the year (as opposed to passing a test) to be grandfathered in??

Or do I have it wrong altogether?

    This is all so confusing!!!

You have to pass one at least one part by 11/30/2011 since December is a non-testing month.

If you do not you will need 150 credit hours to be licensed in PA

Okay, thank you! You can still sit for the exams though, correct? You just can't be licensed until you have the 150 hours?

Not sure if it is the same in TX, but we have to have 150 hrs before we can sit for the exam.

The link answers most common questions regarding PA conversion to 150 credit hours

Q: What will I need to sit for the CPA exam in PA effective Jan. 1, 2012?

A: Candidates may sit for the CPA Exam after they have graduated with a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university approved by the SBOA, and completed at least 24 semester-credit hours in accounting subjects approved by the SBOA. Candidates, however, will be required to obtain a total of 150 credit hours of education, including 36 semester credit hours in accounting subjects before a license is granted.
