Hi! Does anyone study at a local Starbucks or coffee shop? I am wanting to try this out for a change of scenery than my kitchen table to study. Just not sure how many coffees I need to buy or if it is “weird” to be there for 5 hours at a time!? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

I study at starbucks all the time.. I used to buy 1 coffee and get water often while I was there. Now they know me pretty well and sometimes I don't even buy anything and just ask for some water and they're cool with it

I would be so distracted people-watching. I love to watch people in public for some stupid reason.

After 5 minutes I would be people watching and lose focus. Kudos to those who can do it.

Sounds like fun! It might be possible depending on how crowded/uncrowded the Starbucks is. 1 drink is probably fine. Some of the staff might begin to ask you what the heck you're working so hard on! 😉

Personally, I can't really pay attention to Gearty/Olinto lectures in there (with headphones on), but I might be able to go in & crank out some multiple choice questions (usually at a slow pace) or something.

I study at starbucks all the time. I will just get a $1.5 coffee and it also comes with free refills! I'm pretty sure all the people there know my face and they are still nice to me lol people camp in the shop all the time so it's no news to the people work there. just clean up yourself when leave.

I feel really sleepy when studying in library. the noise in the coffee shop keeps me awake. though sometimes it's distracting. i'll just put on my earphone to reduce the noise.

I sit at Caribou and study. I usually buy 1 coffee and I've been there as long as 3 or so hours and been just fine, haven't been asked any questions. I've also seen people there longer than I was. I study better there than at home b/c at home I feel like I should be doing dishes, laundry, napping, watching TV, etc.

I rarely work from home these days…I run the site from a coffee shop on the east side of town…buy $2 worth of coffee re-fills…lunch…then move to Starbucks 10 miles across town…coffee…water..etc.

My personal philosophy is that if I'm using their seat, electricity for my Macbook, etc – I should pay for some stuff – not a lot of stuff – but enough to warrant my existence 🙂
