    Hello All,

    Tuesday I take Far! My first exam. I’ve been studying like crazy and am ready to move on to a new topic. I was wondering at the prometric test centers do they provide calculators or do we have to use the crappy microsoft based calculator with the register tape? Sorry I’m a noob. 🙂

    Thanks for your help…this site has been tremendous for me!

    The crappy electronic ones tied in with the exam program… And they're worse than the Microsoft calculators IMO…

    AUD - 85
    FAR - 78 (lol@ FAR Sims)
    REG - 85
    BEC - August

    Ughhh…That really slows you down IMO. It just doesn't seem practical, but whatever that's the rules.

    I think one of my bosses told me that in his day he wasn't allowed to use any calculators – and that was in the days of pencils and paper – no computer.

    Overall, we're pretty lucky it's computer-based and that there is a calculator provided, however annoying it may be…I did not like using the calculator for my first exam, but I kind of had to (it was FAR), so I sort of got used to it.

    Good luck!

    The calculator is small and hard to see (I put that in as one of my complaints in my post-test survey), Use the Microsoft one and become used to the size of the font. I know that it slowed me down a lot because I couldn't see the numbers and kept on punching in the wrong numbers because I was nervous. It was not a costly lesson, but def became a distraction during the test to redo some of the more complex calculations because I pressed a wrong button

    AUD 91

    @Mmilito

    That's annoying. I think I had a similar problem on one of the exams…
