I know that I have seen many people on here discuss their frustrations with the calculator function. I have had issues with the calculator function with the lag time and glitching that has taken place in this years testing. I also find the tool less than user friendly. I was discussing my displeasure regarding the calculator as I walked out of my most recent exam and they told me that I should complain when I get the chance to write about my concerns after the exam. Which I have done. They said when enough people complain they typically think of a way to find a better way of doing things if enough people complain about the same thing since prometric also reviews the complaints with different boards and helps find better options to improve usability. They told me I should find a forum or spread the word to people so they can also complain about the function. The Prometric people told me that most exams they administer allow hand held calculators, but they must be issued by Prometric staff and cleared by the staff whenever they leave the testing room and before they reenter. I think it is asinine that they do not let us use a hand held calculator during the exam. I wrote a novel after I completed my last two tests with extensive complaints about the tool. With the lag and freezing I have experienced I am going to say that the tool has cost me nearly 15-20 mins on both tests I have taken. I have had to restart calculations etc. I told wrote in the comments section that until they get the problems of freezing and lag remedied then they should allow hand held calculators. I personally think everyone should complain. I do not know about the rest of you, but it really bothers me that we can’t have something hand held.
