CA lag time!

    Hi All!

My boyfriend submitted his application to retake BEC and FAR which he got his scores back from in the 2nd wave of the April/May window. The application was submitted June 22nd and the check was cashed. We followed up with them about two weeks ago and received a response saying that they were waiting to recieve his scores so that they could approve the applciation (but scores had already been out!). And now we still have received no further response. We’ve been through this many times before and the process usually takes about a week. It’s quickly getting frusterated as we are approaching the dreaded 18 month mark, and now they’ve taken away nearly a month of testing time!!

Anybody have any advice on how to move this forward? Anybody having the same issue with the CBA this time around?

    Thanks in advance!

    They have a HUGE backlog.

I pretty much call them every day and I have been told that they no longer differentiate between different kind of applications.

So new applications, deficient applications (like in my case), and re-applications (like in your boyfriend's case) are all treated the same. And they are processed in the order they are received.

As of today, they were processing applications received during the first week of June.

    They suck!

I sent in my last transcript at the beginning of June and planned to take all four parts in July and August, but here you go and July is gone!

Oh my…thats not good at all. At that rate he won't get in in this window at all. I'm pretty prepared to throw a fit if he gets thrown out of an entire window thats just rediculous. He starts losing parts in Feb. and they are seriously making that an issue.

Cali need some serious help in so many ways…..

    Cali needs help in everything!

Great idea to slow down already slow employees but cutting their work.

Cut some ridicolous social program, not something that customers (and not citizens) pay for.

Increase the fee to $200. I would have been extremely happy to pay double to have my file processed in a decent time.

I am convinced that people (including myself) live here only because of natural beauty and the best weather. There's nothing else appealing in this state.

Oh ya it's awful….I have no idea how we plan to get out of this mess!

and funny you say that…one of my new favorite sayings when people reference anything to do with the state is “It's a good thing its pretty…”

    What area are you in?

    I'm in Los Angeles.

I left a six-figure job in NYC to come here. Nobody would hire me in the same position without a CPA license, so I'm studying full-time. You understand the frustration…….

It's a good thing I could go to the beach in Febryary though…. the palm trees everywhere are pretty, and so are the hills.

That's about it! (Still love it though)

I'm not a big fan of LA…one of my sisters lives there. It's fun to visit but I couldn't deal with it long enough to live there. I'm in San Luis Obispo.

Thankfully, I finished my exam before starting work, so now I'm just waiting for my license sign off, and working on getting my boyfriend to finish the exam as well, which the CBA is NOT making an easy task at the moment!

You will most certainly see your wish come true of raising the fees in the future, however higher fees does not lead to quicker processing.

I'm pretty sure things are getting held up to get people to complain because employees are pissed about things like min wage, furloughs, etc.

    CPAPlease,

My wife and I stopped by in SLO while driving up to Big Sur and Carmel during the July 4th long weekend.

It was lovely. It was Friday and there were bands playing by the Mission.

But we moved to LA because we always lived in NYC and we like the huge city benefits and conveniences.

    ya its gorgeous up here!

Wednesday is music in the parks in Templeton, Thursday is farmers market in SLO, Friday is music at the mission and in the park in Paso Robles, as well as the fish market in Avila. It's a neat area!

    Financeguy:

    I'm 100% with you.

    I called god-knows-how-many-times.

Some employees are nicer than others but there are a few, especially one that keep complaining about the Governor and says that it's his fault and blah blah blah.

Now, why does that person have a job?

They just lowered fees at the CBA during the spring? Why?

Lower taxes, not professional fees paid only by who really uses the service. It's just plain stupid.

Now I heard they want to raise state corporate taxes on certain indistries in California.

Great effing idea to attract corporations and create jobs!

You guys could call up the Sac Bee (newspaper) has a lot to do w/ state workers…always posting articles about them. I'm sure they would be interested in a story like this…especially if you explained the cpa exam process and why this timliness is so important
