MCHammer is out. Passed FAR last night with an 81, and, I’m done. Will be burning my books tonight and opening my 50 year old aged bottle of Jameson that I bought in Ireland. Feeling a lot of feels right now. Going off A71 for awhile and figured I’d offer my 2 cents when it comes to this horrible horrible horrible exam.

    1) You have to stay persistent. I know what failing feels like. Get right back on the horse and forget about the fail. Don’t get sad, don’t post a stupid A71 thread asking if you can get a “score review”. Get angry, study harder.

    2) Trust yourself first. If you have a question about the CPA exam process, use the appropriate channels. Contact NASBA, contact your state board whatever it may be.

    3) Take a break. After passing 2 sections I went on a 2 week vacation to Hawaii, and it was more than necessary as it allowed me to recharge my batteries and finish strong.

    4) Don’t be afraid to say no. There were COUNTLESS times I had to say no to my girlfriend, my family, my friends. I skipped parties, events, celebrations, bar nights, football, baseball, you name it. And now, all those “Sorry, I have to study” remarks are SOOO worth it. And I now have the time to make it up to them.

    5) Believe in your self.

    6) Don’t skip over any subject material. Don’t ask “what is the most important section when studying for XXX”. They are all equally important. You don’t want to learn the hard way like I did, and get to the exam and get a simulation on something you skipped over in your studying. Along the same lines, don’t move pass a particular section until you actually understand it.

That’s all I’ve got. Best of luck to everyone. I have the utmost respect for anyone enduring this exam. Don’t let it defeat you.

Congrats MCHammer. #6 I would put in BOLD FACE / RED FONT because that is what I've learned the hard way. “What do I need to know for FAR?” Nope, you need to know all of it (not be an expert) but know it well enough to pass.

Thanks for the tips. I hope people just starting get a chance to see this before it falls off the front page.
