I am looking to supplement my Becker 2011 for REG and was wondering what people suggest? A Wiley test bank? Ninja notes? I was thinking of getting one of those 2.

I know some updates for July 2011 are not included with Becker and I am only going to be studying for 3 weeks so I need the best supplement possible but keep in mind I won’t have a ton of time after getting through all the Becker material and I have the Becker Final Review too.

I'm mainly asking so I can get the ninja notes today before the deal runs out (unless wiley would be more helpful)….I won't have enough time to use both.

    Any suggestions?

It depends on what you are looking for in a supplement! Ninja notes are great for highlighting all the major things you need to know, but if you find yourself memorizing answers to becker MCQ's and you're not really challenging your knowledge, then get Wiley test bank for more practice.

As CalCPA said, it depends on what you are trying to get from a supplement. Wiley provides practice on MCQ and the Ninja notes highlights the key points of the material. I used both and prepared for the exam in two weeks, but that's all I did during that time. This was what I did:

INITIAL RUN THROUGH – for each section I

–Read the Becker text and made notes

    –Read the associated Wiley material

    –Did the Wiley text MCQ

    REVIEW

    — using the CSO as a guideline I did the following for each section

    –Read the Becker review notes

    –Read the Ninja notes

–Read my notes and rewrote the formulas onto a separate page

–Went thru the Becker Passmaster questions

–Did the Wiley test bank questions

    –went through formulas again

–did additional problems in my weak areas

I had access to the Becker text and Passmaster questions but wasn't using the entire program so I'm not familiar with the Becker review. I know that there are things you need to do in order to get the Becker guarantee, but, for me, the review process I described is what worked best for me for all of the exams.

    Just to summarize–

    WILEY

Lots of MCQ to practices, can go through it much more quickly than problems on paper and have instant reenforcement if you use the study mode

However, I don't know how often it's updated and it's organized much differently than Becker for BEC

    NINJA

Highlights the essential points and explains things differently so it may clarify certain topics more than your current text – for me at least, they were especially helpful with IT

It's been updated for the 7/1 CSO

However, it doesn't provide any MCQ practice

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

Thank you so much kb!! Really helpful. I will be doing nothing but studying for 3 weeks so basically the same time table as you had.

Did you see anything in Wiley (without being specific) on the exam that wasn't covered by Becker? The Becker final review has additional questions/SIMs too so I would only need the additional test bank if it includes enough relevant content (not seen in Becker) to make it worth it. Thanks again.

I'm sorry, but I studied BEC intensely right after REG so I don't remember all the details. I had a copy of the Passmaster questions and answers on the same page so I went through those more as a review of additional material to Wiley. If I remember correctly, Wiley did a better job on property tax transactions than Becker.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
