Are BEC scores ALWAYS delayed, or do they just reserve the right to take a little longer?

I think they are only delayed if you are on the BEC bubble. The way I understand it, if you are borderline passing, a human will actually look at your writing and your score is then held up for a few days or so. I have only read about it on A71, so someone please correct me if this is wrong.

That's what I figured…they probably take more time if it's on the border of a pass/fail.

What everyone said seems right. My BEC (86) came out right away. Others are waiting for days. They are on the bubble and get scores right around 75.
