I am in Illinois and according to the Board of Examiners (state authority releasing the scores here) NASBA did not have my scores as of today noon. They recommended emailing AICPA, which I did not hoping for much. The answer I got was pretty standard, and here it is:

Thank you for writing to the AICPA.
The AICPA releases the examination scores to NASBA, only. NASBA then forwards the scores to the Boards of Accountancy for approval and subsequent distribution to candidates. The AICPA cannot provide score information to candidates.
Most written communication responses are initially scored using an automated process, and some are scored by a network of human raters (all CPAs) to ensure consistency of the automated scoring calibration. Each of the scoring methods adheres to a strict scoring guideline to ensure uniform application of the scoring criteria. Additionally, prior to score release, the written communication responses for all candidates with a score from 72 to 78 are scored again to ensure accuracy; the second round of scoring is done only by a network of human raters. The final written communication score is then obtained as the summed average of the individual essay scores.
Your score should be released 1 week after the scheduled score release.
We hope you find this information helpful.
    Sincerely,
    Examinations Team
    AICPA

@Iwantmyweekendsback that's essentially the same thing I found in the How is the CPA Exam Scored pdf, question 6. It's almost word for word. My read of that is there's two way to end up with a delayed score, one of which is to have a score between 72 & 78 and the other is something more random where “most” are scored with the automated process and “some” are scored by human raters. Just no way to tell.

The exam coordinator for Oklahoma emailed me late today and said they were told by NASBA that some will be released in the morning and the rest will be early next week.

    @Substantial

No idea. I didn't receive a performance report because I didn't fail that one.

    BEC - 68, 76
REG - biting nails til Friday
    AUD - 66, 4/14
    FAR - 8/14

If you scored in the 90's, you studied too hard!

Its got to be some combination of timing and selection for human grading. There seems to be a path to human grading without computer grading based on what they state (Most are computer graded.) There is also an automatic re-grading if you are on the bubble. There's also got to be a timing component as some who should've been automatically regraded got their scores timely. Whether that timing is when you took the exam or when someone graded it, idk.

All this refreshing is not refreshing… I am sitting for CA (but taking tests in CT – so the time difference is killing me!)

Has anyone received their BEC score from CA yet? Should I assume I am a Bubble Boy and confused the Moops with the Moors?

So I'm still miserable and in a horribly foul mood and still trying to understand why I don't have my BEC score and I came across this from the Journal of Accountancy May 2011:

“If the gold standard is what a trained human scorer would score, you gather a relatively large sample—around 1,000 to 1,200 responses scored by people—then you use a program to build a mathematical model that will take elements of those papers and predict human scores and validate that model using data from real candidates and show the software is scoring the way the humans would score it,” Mattar said. “Now you have an approved scoring model and can run responses electronically through that software almost instantly and get scores.” However, even with the automated scoring, a sample of responses is also scored by people as a continuing quality-control check, he said.”

So some of us were randomly selected as a continuing quality-control check

If it's just a random selection then that's absolute BS. I've been waiting for my score for almost 6 weeks.

I completely agree with you Beantown23. They knew when we finished our exams if we'd been selected for their quality control check or not. To delay our score release without even notifying us is absolutely absurd from a customer service perspective. They'd penalize us for treating a client this way.

I got this from the rogerCPA website, not sure how creditable it is “Operational WCs are graded via software, but are automatically reviewed and regraded by human scorers if the candidate is ‘on the bubble’ or close to a passing score on the BEC exam. If more than one person re-grades a candidate’s WC responses, the average of the human graders’ scores will be the candidate’s final WC score. “
