Folks, if anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it. This post may be a re-tread, but I am going to do it anyway. I have scored in the 90’s on both REG and BEC, and in the 80’s on FAR. Passed first time, studying for about 3-4 weeks each. But I have taken and bombed AUD while scoring in the low 60’s not once, but twice. And I thought I was much better prepared the second time. Yet people’s scores are the highest for AUD (most in the 90’s). Am I stupid? What is going on here? I have no accounting or audit experience (I am an M&A guy looking for CPA designation), but have used Becker for my studies to date. I just bought Yeager and Wiley (including test banks) for my next attempt in August. Any advice, please? Why is everyone finding AUD so easy, and I am flopping like a dead fish???

@Joey J have you been memorizing, memorizing, memorizing? What I found about AUD so far is that it takes the most verbatim memory than any of the others. It is best to literally MEMORIZE word for word the audit opinions. Memorize what goes where given a certain outcome in the audit (ie. going concern comes after opinion paragraph).

Additionally, multiple-choice questions will help you immensely. The wording of questions in audit gets kind of tricky. I think your Wiley test banks should help solve that problem.

Don't get discouraged, you are not stupid. Keep working hard and you will pass! Good luck!

    FAR: 84
    AUD: 95
    REG: 78
    BEC: 88
    ETHICS: 100

The clue in Audit is to really know in which stage of the audit you are. I recommend 100% Becker's, supported by Wiley and CPA review for free… for MCQ.

You can do it believe me….

Thanks you guys, very helpful comments. MN, I will certainly do that. I don't think that's what I did, and I certainly didn't memorize enough as it turns out. Maybe I am just not being careful in reading the question or understanding the materials as much as I should. MQ, I am using Becker, but struggling. Perhaps I am just not doing it right. I used Becker for the other three sections with strong results. But not for AUD. But rather than blame Becker, I am going to use Yaeger and Gleim test questions with Becker this time. I hope to pass! Gosh, if I don't, I will literally insert a bottle of scotch directly into my body..and not necessarily my mouth!

Joey J, It took me 3 times to pass Aud. pass all other 3 on the 1st try.

Aud is very tricky, you have to read the question very carefully and really understand the explanations.

English is my 2nd language and I am in my 40s. if I can pass, any one can. I only did MCs this time around.

I read each question very slowly until I fully understand them. I use Becker and Gleim.
