I passed all three papers in 2010 and gave the Audit paper in Jan 2011. I felt the exam was hard and when i failed, i felt bad,but was not too disappointed. Then i sat for the exam again in May and this time i did put a lot of effort, studied the qs twice, once in study mode and second time in exam mode. The marks that i obtained were very good when compared to the Jan exam prep.ie.,above 70% . I again lost it in May, my BEC paper also expired and i am now contemplating whether to give a shot again for Aud & Bec . My FAR exam expires in Oct 2011! It’s too overwhelming when i think about the effort, time and money part!

    I used Roger cpa review!

Is it worth it? Please suggest.

Naw, I dont think having your CPA license is worth actually studying for a few tests. Nobody takes CPAs seriously anyway.

There are people who have been at this for years, some who have taken each section four or more times. So to some people it is worth it. Nobody can answer if it is worth it to you. Might help to consider the reasons why you started this, was it a career goal or because somebody else wanted you to?

Yes, it's worth it (to us). That's what we're all going to say. But nobody can say if it's worth it to you except for you.

    BEC: 70, 82
    AUD: 62, 78

    @Tough

The answer to your question depends on why you are trying to become a CPA. If this is something that you really want, then you should keep after it. There are plenty of people on this forum who've retaken exams multiple times. Read some of keeptrying's posts if you want to be really inspired.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

Mla1169 is absolutely correct. Only you can value whether it's worth it to you. For me it is well worth it as you can tell with my multiple tests. For me there are several things that will happen–to begin with–for each section I pass I get a $1 more per hour….that's instantly $2k in my pocket annually for each section–the last section is worth way more monetarily as well as personally. (this is not customary–i just negotiated this with my employer when I started) Personally I will have the accomplishment that I did something that beat the heck out of me but I kept standing up and taking the punches. I will have also taught my son to not give up when times get tough….he has seen me cry, scream, and celebrate. Each exam before I go in he says to me “do your best; I know you will”. So assess what the value is for you; assess whether in a year you will be kicking yourself because you gave up; assess whether you can explain to someone why you gave up. For me I can't give justifiable reason to give up! I'm determined to persevere and pass this exam!

    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your quick replies! Esp- Keeptrying-Thank you!

I started this process in 2004 and gave a huge break until 2008 after i lost the FAR exam in 04.I think i am feeling mentally low. I was so looking forward to get it done, but just didn't!

My worth would be that i finished something that i had taken up- whether i like it or not!

And bc you took a break and came back shows me that it is really worth something to you….don't give up…pick yourself up and smile because one day it WILL be over and you WILL be a CPA!

I failed audit after passing FAR, found out the day I took BEC…then I really took a lax approach thinking I could ride the coattails of my 61 or whatever I got, and I got those two XX's below in my signature that I'm too embarrassed to post…The CPA has been a goal of mine since I decided to go into accounting…FAR was going to lapse in august so I busted my butt and did all the lectures and MC again and passed with a perfect score, 75

    keep after it
