AUD and the voice recorder

I took AUD last Sunday and have to say that I feel pretty good when I walked out of the testing center. I know, that is probably the kiss of death:) However, I do want to share one study tool that I found invaluable for AUD. And that is the voice recorder. I had all five sections of Becker note cards recorded, nemonics, formulas, you name it, it was recorded. I think I had over six hours recorded for AUD. Definitely a way to maximize study time. I listen to my recordings in the car, while getting ready, doing laundry, taking the dog out, laying in the sunbed, shopping, and even at a NASCAR race. I bought some earplugs and listen to it all day at work as well. I figure if my co-workers can listen to music on their I-pods, I can listen to audit opinions, etc. I am currently studying for BEC and once again my little voice recorder is hard at work! P.S. My supervisor does not know that I am taking the exam and I think it is about to drive him crazy to know what I listen to!!! I just told him music:) I hope this bit helps others. Happy studying!

I've been thinking of doing the same thing! How did you make the recordings? I have the basic Windows sound recorder, but I'm not sure if you can put that onto a CD/iPOD. What do you recommend?

I have Becker installed on my work desktop and listen to the lectures whenever I can, using ear-phones, of course – big help so far.

@wecandothis -I purchased a small Sony voice recorder at Wal-Mart for $30. I just record everything that my Becker books says committ to memorization. I started this with BEC back in the spring but not to the extent that I used it for AUD. I didn't pass BEC(66). I refuse to say I fail. I take BEC again on August 27th and have recorded much more information this go around. My voice recorder uses AAA batteries. If you are going to use this as much as I do, make sure you buy plenty of batteries!! I've started buying them in bulk. I also have small headphones that I bought at WalMart for $4. I highly suggest this study tool!! Good luck!

Thanks candothis — I'll have to check that out!

@mla — how are the impact audios? I can only find ones online from 2009 (third edition, I think), so I worry that they won't have up to date information. What has been your experience?

Glad to help out with the study suggestion!! One more thing. If you are having trouble falling to sleep at night, just lay this little recorder beside the pillow or have the earplugs on and you will be gone in no time.:)

I JUST posted this in the healthy body thread. I just used the very basic windows recorder on my laptop, bought a $3 mike from amazon, and spent a few hours recording all the topics I was having trouble with. The wma files went onto my iPod no problem.

Just talking out loud helped me understand some things I hadn't before, and then listening to myself repeat mnemonics was obviously helpful. It was just nice to still be studying and not have that guilt just because you're not in front of a computer.

Yes the one I have is the 2009, and I certainly wouldn't say it is my main source of study because theres a lot of information it will not include but the general concepts of the differences between a repoort on a private co. vs a public co and the general ideas of variables sampling/PPS/non statistical sampling is good background noise at work and a beautiful sleep aid!
