Hi All, its me again with more AUD questions. I know everyone is really worried about scores right now and pretty much annoyed at the AICPA/NASBA. BUT I NEED SOME HELP!!! In the midst of all this uncertainty I landed in AUD 4 for this week. Transaction Cycles is killing me. I don’t like the way Becker is going through it. I mean, they do a good job of describing it and explaining it. But as soon as we move onto the next one I am completely lost and forget everything about the prior one. Any suggestions on how I can tackle these things? Is it worth trying to take notes on it? Should I be drawing them?! What has worked for those who passed/ are studying audit now?!

Yes, I could not agree with you more. I think Becker could have done a better job on this chapter. I wish they would have broke it up even more and broke up the MCQ per transaction cycle.

The best thing to do is to read through each and every transaction cycle. Take very good clear precise notes. Disect the material. I like using Excel for note taking. I name each tab a different transaction cycle.

Then I go through the MCQ very slowly and whatever new material I see, I make a note in my Excel notes on the coinciding tab.

Tim Gearty even said on Facebook that this was an important chapter.. I do wish they broke it up better. And yes it very well may be on your exam, no guarantees.. but like anything on these exam there is no guarantee .. everything is fair game.. know it.. breath it.. do it.. 🙂

    Good Luck 🙂

Thanks JDiiorio! GOod Luck to you as well.

Another great function in Excel is the Find option (CTRL+F). You have to change the setting to search through “workbook” instead of just “sheet”. But when you are going through MCQ and cannot remember an answer, you can CTRL+F the entire workbook to search data within your notes.

This helped me too, because I would remember where I would find the information in my notes and help me to read that section of my notes again while answering MCQ. During the real CPA AUD exam, I could picture the excel tab and where the information was in my notes. It was great!
