LordHelpMePassMemberThanks, Taxi Cow Tent! I knew you were right that something was wrong; I just couldn't get anyone to help me! Thank goodness a different girl answered the phone this morning! 🙂

AnonymousInactiveStill no BEC score by mail here in North For-Saken Carolina.
I had to mail my initial application 3 times -it was supposedly never received the first TWO times. I even waited in line at the post office each time to insure it was postmarked and sent – gotta' call “BS” on that NCBoard. They state it will take several weeks for them to perform the background check…so I waited 10 weeks before I even inquired about my application status…..It required 4 MONTHS to get my initial application processed.
I live 10 minutes ride to their offices in Raleigh.
My first score was never received – I had to e-mail 3 times and be berated by their offices each time DESPITE having waited 3 WEEKS after they were initially mailed before even inquiring the FIRST TIME by e-mail.
This system is pathetic.I'd be ashamed if I actually worked for their offices.
What a sorry, pitiful mess.
They must revel in the job security of knowing they have ZERO competition. Just further proof ALL of the Government and Regulatory agencies are antiquated and in dire need of dismantling.

LauraParticipant@carolina_blues—does your postman know you by name now and run at seeing you coming?? Because mine would know me by name…and probably run if they saw me stalking them everyday when they are trying to deliver the mail. I just don't get why there are even snail mail states left!
REG-80, 77, 77
BEC-67, 68, 71, 67, 71, 74, 71, 74, 72, 77
FAR- 72, 65,67, 53, 75 (truth be known the 53 was with 4 hours of studying)
AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!June 30, 2011 at 10:39 pm #289291

fdhelminMemberCarolina-blues, why didn't you personaly deliver your app? That's what I did and it took a week turnaround
BEC - 82 (04/01/2011)
AUD - 67 (05/03/2011) retake 08/2011
REG - 56 (05/27/2011) retake 08/2011
FAR - 08/10/2011July 1, 2011 at 12:00 am #289293
AnonymousInactiveCongrats32~ That's awesomeness right there!
@fdhelmin, I made the mistake of asking if I could do that and was immediately shot down by someone I will refrain from naming who claims applications will not be accepted if brought directly to their offices. Of course, I've met someone else that dropped their app by there as well and they rushed him right through too.
I wished I could share the lovely response I received today after inquiring about the BEC scores. Despite my best efforts to be cordial and professional – SHE REPLIED ALL IN CAPS.
Trust me, this “learning experience” is one I'd just as soon forget.

yankeeaccountantParticipantCongrats to you!! I have been looking out for you. Glad to hear you got good news and to boot : new initials after your name. I appreciate all your help with FAR. I used the Yaeger cram and passed. I am halfway there. Going to hit REG and Audit this window to hopefully be done.
Any sage advice?
congrats again!!

32CPAParticipantThanks Yankee and Blues!!! Much appreciated!
yankee… I am so glad you beat FAR! Up until this year I considered that if you beat FAR, you'll be a CPA. It seems as though if you truly master FAR, you can understand the other sections. That is until I failed REG in January 2011. Using out dated materials AND an overall superiority complex with the exam (dude, I just passed 3 sections in 4Q with a full time job, kids, puppy, and football season, surely I can handle REG, I'm a tax accountant) I got a 73 and was shocked when I failed.
Got back up on the horse, and beat REG into submission, got 10 more points second time. Looking back on this… I believe REG is the hardest of the four exams. I failed FAR once and REG once. The 2011 REG is the hardest. Too many subjects to master with too many details.
You want sage advice?
FAR – make it your obsession to know all things financial reporting. Think about it so much it's in your dreams.
REG – put all of your efforts into thinking like a tax person or a lawyer. Remember that the Gov't likes to take money and doesn't like to miss out on getting it. Most of the rules are designed to benefit the government and the lower income class… that's not a political statement, it's an opinion on law. Know how to calculate basis. They really should call the exam BASIS, not REG. This is basis in property, investments, S corp, P'ship, stock… etc.
AUD – memorize memorize and memorize what you have already memorized. Watch lecture, do questions, memorize.
BEC – Do not use Becker no matter how much you paid for it. Yaeger Cram got me through BEC. The IT section is the same no matter what book you use… but the others… Yeager is awesome! (Roger has some nice free videos too).
Yankee… I may be on the other side now… but I'm sticking around to help others. I'll be watching you! Good luck!
BEC - Pass 10/2010
FAR - Pass 10/2010
AUD - Pass 11/2010
REG - Pass 05/2011July 1, 2011 at 4:19 pm #289296
32CPAParticipantYankee… you come find me if you need help with REG. I did it twice and am a tax guy.
BEC - Pass 10/2010
FAR - Pass 10/2010
AUD - Pass 11/2010
REG - Pass 05/2011July 1, 2011 at 7:57 pm #289297
fdhelminMemberJust got REG in the mail. Looks like I'll be taking it again as well.
BEC - 82 (04/01/2011)
AUD - 67 (05/03/2011) retake 08/2011
REG - 56 (05/27/2011) retake 08/2011
FAR - 08/10/2011July 2, 2011 at 3:38 am #289298
AnonymousInactiveI didn't get my scores in the mail yet. I wonder what's going on!
July 2, 2011 at 6:04 pm #289299
AnonymousInactiveCPAman, never fear – they will eventually get there. Well, not necessarily…but at least you can always call, write and e-mail them until they send them again.
As of today…
Saturday, July 2nd in the year Two Thousand and Eleven –
I'm FINISHED. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I almost died of heatstroke trying to chase down my mailman as he drove off. The outside of my envelope had a red stamp – “Congratulations!” – like they use to place on the old Publisher's Clearing House Envelopes leading you to believe you'd actually won something.
Finally…FINALLY I can allow myself to start thinking, dreaming…putting together a future for myself as I've been fearful to even allow myself the satisfaction of a wondering/wandering mind the last year or so. FINALLY, life is no longer passing me by…I can re-teach myself how to swim in the River of Life….YES! I WILL HAVE A LIFE AGAIN!!!!!
Thank you so much everyone. For those of you that post, even those of you that merely lurk. This community is the best! I'd like to hug each of your's necks this fine Summer's day!!!!!
I will never be able to completely step out of these boards because they've been such an integral part of my life in what has been one of the most trying times of my life. Its like folks that go down in a plane wreck and survive or something…they can be complete strangers, but once the plane comes to a stop and they find themselves picking each up out of the wreckage. They are forever bonded. They are friends for life. Friends not because of the amount of time they spent together but rather the type…the quality, the intensity of life – of living in that moment together.
Anyway, I digress! This is the best. Please excuse me – I gotta' go outside and scream at the top of my lungs again. I seem to have a case of turrets syndrome since waking out to the mail box a half hour ago.
YESSSS! !! !! !

AnonymousInactiveOh, and as I edited my score in my footer down there – I noticed that today is my one year anniversary here on Another71! Wooooooooooo-hoooooooooooooo!
