LauraParticipantI work off 249 and Cypresswood….lol you are in a very “safe” part of town… I use to work in Greenspoint at my first real accounting job.
Glad to see so many of us in Houston trying to get CPAs…at least now I know why i can't always get a seat in a specific prometric center…what would be even funnier is if I had talked to any of you while waiting to check in at the prometric center.

@Keeptrying-I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass BEC but I'm glad to hear that you are motivated and ready to keep going and work hard!! Good luck the rest of the way and I'll continue to be praying for you and trying to motivate and encourage you as much as possible. If there is anything I can do let me know. I certainly know what it's like to go through this exam (total 8 exams) and the support and encouragement we need to get through this beast! You'll do GREAT!!!

I will get through this…been a roller coaster of emotions today to be honest. But I know I'll pick myself up and dust myself off and get through this.

AnonymousInactiveOh man, I'm soooo sorry keeptrying!!! I know you won't give up and hopefully you will knock AUD and BEC out forever in the next testing window. One piece of advice I can give for AUD is buy those jumbo index cards (4×6, I think) and make a card for compilations, reviews and quarterly reviews for public companies and the other kinds of nonattest/attest engagements (if you have time) and make a bulleted list saying ‘independence required, title required' etc. It may help to make the bulleted list within a table in a word document and then printing it out and pasting it to the index card. My handwriting isn't the best so typing those big of index cards works best for me. Anyway, make sure you know the index cards backwards and forwards and have your hubby, friend, kiddos etc. quiz you. I know that flash cards are commonly used as a study tool, but I can't stress the importance (at least for me) of having those 3 index cards worth of info memorized. I was still messing up on what applies to reviews or a compilation the night before my second exam so I whipped those index cards out and made my friend go over them repeatedly until I could see it in my mind with my eyes closed. I think we sometimes don't soak up the info on the flashcards so it's good to close your eyes and ‘see it' in your mind and when you can ‘see it' in your mind, that's when you know that you have the concept down. As for BEC, that section of the exam is a total crapshoot and all I can suggest is getting a mini-dry erase board and make sure you can write down every formula from memory. It helped to write down the same formula 5 times each so that it stuck in my brain. As for IT, I skimmed that module because it was all so random and too much info so I personally felt my time was better spent studying other subject areas of the exam. I did make a 75 so I obvi cut it as close as one can get, so perhaps my study method for that section isn't something to follow haha. Anyway, keep at it and remember that you always have us to root you on, give you advice and celebrate your accomplishments 🙂
