Hello everyone… i was just wondering if anyone has any advice or knowledge about appealing a grade of 74?

I hear that its practically useless to even attempt to do, but i would like to hear if someone has tried it.

    Thanks!

My state board says the same thing; its useless. Less than 1% of cases get changed. And they charge you $200 just to get a copy of your test

    Far 5/27/11 - 83
    Bec 7/1/11 - 82
    Reg 8/13/11 - 86! It's over!!!!

Oh, and your grade has already been curved. So, no, it won't work. Sorry!

I think an appeal is probably more successful on an exam like BEC that has a writing section where the grading could be somewhat subjective. But especially now with the new format, all the exams are computer graded, and anyone on the borderline is personally graded by an actual person. I think this is why the appeal process is usually unsuccessful, because the AICPA has already put so much effort into grading these exams the first time, there is little chance that going through the same process again would yield a different result.

I heard you have a better chance passing the exam on your next try than successfully appealing it. Like CalCPASoon said, all the 74s are already regraded by a human being, probably by two different people to ensure the result. good luck next time.

“Less than 1% of scores are changed” that is probably a bit high. According to the materials I have seen- there has NEVER been a score changed due to appeal. Its a waste of money and time, especially when your 18 month clock is ticking. Its just a formality imo, they have it up there to be considerate but its worthlesss.

If you have the extra money to do it, it may be worth trying. However, candidates are told to keep in mind how rare it is for appeals to result in any score changes

I had emailed the board once and they said chances are 0.1% to less than that. As someone here once mentioned, you have better chance of winning American Idol than getting your score changed through the appeal process. I know its tough to see a 74.

The chances of being successful are 0%. Just study and retake..good luck!
