I’m not a quitter, but I just got a 74 for AUD making this my 3rd fail and 64 for REG making it my 2nd fail (same score as first time). I have been going since April of last year and only passed BEC which expires in January. I am just hoping to get some tips and encouragement because I really do just feel like giving up.

Something I do when I lose motivation, struggle with a lesson, whatever, is write my name with the CPA acronym behind it. Plaster it all over your house. It helps you remember why you're doing this and gave me a boost enough to get back into a groove.

I also received a 74 on Audit today. I don't know if that helps, but you're not alone and you will absolutely overcome this!

We all struggle and feel like giving up. You’ve just gotta stick with it! Figure out your learning style because whatever you’ve been doing doesn’t seem to be working. Maybe switch it up a little to find what will work. I failed AUD 4 times before finally passing last year, I failed FAR and BEC each 3 times. It happens. Dust yourself off and get back to the grind. It’s all worth it once it’s over!

    AUD - 56 - 68 - 61 - 9/8/16
    REG - 75
    FAR - 7/15/16
    BEC - TBD

Wiley CPAexcel and NINJA 10 Point Combo

I just got a 40 on my FAR, yes a 40!!! I feel miserable. I studied 3 months for FAR and was completely burned out. I also have bad test anxiety. I do know what I need to fix and will go back stronger ,but do you know anyone that has made a recovery from such score??? I am motivated ,but do I have a chance? I feel the bottom is usually about 50's and I'm no where near. I'm stuck between keeping my self motivated and freaking out at the same time….

I finally passed REG and I can relate to anyone that is still going through/struggling with this sectin. I was all over the place the first three times and basically the SIMS were the killer each time pllus the average performance on MCQ. I was weaker on individual tax and property transactions each time and I eventually figure out there is no way to pass without bumping up the performance on all tax areas.

A lot of people suggest Ninja mcq which i got each time I took REG and the first three times I never really used Ninja despite paying for it because I found it overwhelming and the system is kind of slow. Therefore, I just re-do the becker mcq over and over again to the point that I was not really understanding the big concepts and how everything flows together. For my fourth attempt, I still got Ninja and did some sims and mcqs there and sepent majority of the time doing GLEIM simulations. I also keep opening free trial accounts from Wiley to watch the videos because I found wiley lectures to be most detailed and makes the most sense. Wiley and GLEIm sims combined gives you the most preparation for REG sims from my experience. I think you will defininley not get the same SIMS but the process of practicing rigorous sims prepares you to think critically which will click with you by the time exam day comes and you have to tackle the sims. For this passed attempt, I got sims on an area that I am not familiar with and I was able to connect the dots and guessed logically which Im sure was the correct answeres since my passing score is way higher then my average trending the first three filed attempts. I think the Gleim and wiley sims really helped me get familiar with doing hard sims and staying calm.

For my fourth attempt, after going through Gleim and wiley and some Ninja MCQ in between, I went back to Becker questions and was able to score almost 100% on the the MCQs and actually have an understanding of the concepts and how it fits together. I would say definley do NInja mcq until you hit the review phase and then keep doing SIMS (gleim, wiley, becker or bascially any sims you can find). Found out today that I got a 86. My trend was 68,71,73,86. REG was a definite stuggle for me and others here probably have a better strategy because my method seems all over the place and i spent a lot of money on all these extra study materials and some I didnt even use. I think the most imporatnt study tip is to read the book as well and absorb the information. If i were to read the book carefully the first few times then I wouldnt have to retake the section so many times, but this is only feasible if you have all day to study. Overall, jsut keep practicing and know how the tax forms relate to each other.

For Audit I got 73 at first, once the score was release I booked an exam after 3 days without studying again and got 84 without anything special. Sometimes it's just a bit of luck, but if you scored above 70, you have already arrived.

I get to lose focus and motivation easily, what worked for me is focusing only on one subject to complete, even before the score was released I wouldn't jump to the next topic.

Don't give up, every minute you have put already counts for something!

Took audit my first time at the end of Q1 and got a 74 so I know the feeling. I just looked at my score report and just banged out mcqs from the areas I was weaker in. I did set from chapters 3-5 in Becker repeatedly until I was blue in the face. Retook as soon as the next text window opened and got a 77. Really recommend that you plan to take any sections you find challenging at the end of a testing window so in case you fail you can quickly retake in the next window.
