AICPA should just start posting the dartboard they throw our exams at….

….instead of the crap they call a score report. Both my boyfriend and I were shocked at our reports this time around. He got weaker on everything(including sims) but one area of mcq on his REG exam…… 70! I got two stronger, two comparable, and two weaker for a total of comparable on mcq. I also got weaker on sims which was my big surprise…. Ending me up with 69. I used AL on all but two sims. I guess these two were heavily graded. Well it’s over and done. I will pick back up after tax season. I will probably take a week off from work in May to make sure I tie up all loose ends before I retake. Ranting over … see you all back in April.

Dart board is definitely how I feel about my score too, definitely no consistency on how they grade us. I am with you Robot, gotta retake mine again pretty soon. Hang in there, you will get it when you retake it and it will all be worth it

Yes – my feelings this morning too – I did get a passing score – so I quickly flipped to the score report to see which areas were stronger – and all my MCQ were weaker??!! WTF? I put on my glasses to see better (maybe I didn't get a passing score afterall) – and I noted that I got stronger in SIMS. Really, my SIMS score propelled me into a passing grade? Huh? It's only 40% of the exam.

I'm happy to have passed – but this makes no sense to me.

@SonjaBlue exactly! It's how I passed BEC. I scored stronger in written which is only 15%(or so they tell us) and weaker in mcq and yet passed. It really sucks to be on the other end. Congrats on passing!! Good luck on your last

Thanks littlenumberrobot! The only way I can figure it is that I got 100% on the SIMS – close to 40 points – and 38 points on the MCQ (maybe I got like 70-74% on the MCQ questions – percentage wise – and that equalled 38 points). I did feel really good about the SIMS – it was a bunch of stuff I do at work regularly.

But it makes no sense without insight into the points for each question . . .

@SonjaBlue – You got a score report with a passing score??

    #404195

    @k917

I do also. I am in CA. I believe it depends on the state.

Ok. We don't get them in CT and I had never heard of it before so I was confused. Thanks.

Sometimes I wish they didn't because often my failing scores have better reports than my passing 🙁

How do you know if your state gives you a score report if you pass?

    REG - 78
    BEC - 74, 67, 69, 69, 70, 79
    FAR - 76
    AUD - 69, 69, 69, 74, 85

@littlenumberrobot I feel you! I have had the same thing happen to me where I was weaker in a lot of sections and still passed, but comparable on another exam and didn't pass. SO FRUSTRATING.

But you are sooooo close. I know you can do if! I highly recommend the NINJA notes for Audit. Even though I'm a former auditor, I found the notes were very helpful in summarizing the important concepts and helping you understand the core concepts so that you can extrapolate to be able to answer all questions.

I know how you feel, the testmakers really used the dart board to give me my score. Improved or maintain in most areas yet still receive the same score…go figure

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

    #404201

@TDKR OMG!!! I would flip out seeing those score reports. WOW. I know I'm not the only one this happens to but it seemed really bad with this exam.

@DesperatelySeekingChupacabra Thank you! I was just so set on being free after tax season. I would have been more happy with a 74 honestly, I am just so confused with this report. Thanks for the input. I havent really thought of how to re-study just yet. If I schedule it for last May it would give me roughly 6 weeks after tax deadline. Ugh. So close yet so far away!

@lsutigers03 Not sure how to tell… mine just pops up with the my score everytime. Sorry I dont know more!
