Background: Been taking the various parts of the exam since Oct 09. I passed REG and AUD on the first try and have failed BEC 6 times now and FAR 3 times. I have used Yeager, Lambers, Becker, CPAExcel, Gleim, and the Ninja notes throughout my testing. No one program has been successful in my passing BEC or FAR. I am currently working as an governmental auditor for a very small firm and love what I do. I am studying for the CFE now and will also get my CGAP (govt audit professional). I intend to start back up on the CPA trail in 2012 with BEC since that one is killing me and then FAR, AUD, REG. (I have lost both my AUD and REG). My desire for the CPA designation is twofold: 1) I can take it with me if I ever move; and 2)their are only 2 partners and the older one will retire in a few years and I’d like to pick up his workload.

Question: Should I pick one review course (tried it with Becker but failed FAR and BEC using that)…I’m considering Yaeger/Wiley or Gleim and use that one exclusively or University of Phoenix-Tulsa offers a CPA review program which are live classes and not self study?

My biggest problem is I am not an accounting major but did take the required classes to get my 150 hrs (crappy professor though) and some of the concepts don’t make a lot of sense to me. I’m thinking I might need more one on one help than just a self study program.

The only two I have used are Becker and Yaeger. I think both are good but I believe Yaeger does a much better job actually “teaching” concepts to you. I would go with that if you're looking for some more in-depth learning.

    AUD - 82 Becker
    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker
    FAR - 66,61,71,74,70 and #6 80!!!! FINALLY DONE!!! 9/20/12
Yaeger and Yaeger CRAM for the final battle!

I used Becker and Wiley, b/c Wiley covered a lot of little topics that Becker didn't. I wish you the best, b/c BEC is quite the random dumpster of info. A lot of economics, and a lot of cost accounting equations is what I remember of it, although the content and format has changed since I took it.

    Couldn't pass again!

I've been very pleased with Yaeger b/c I need that “teaching” style.

    Good Day!

I am trying to muddle through all the “CPA EXAM REVIEW” classes/books out there. I am trying to find something that will help me learn the concepts. I am a corporate accountant have been for the past five years. I graduated with my MBA in accounting November of 2009 and my company is moving out of state next March. I did recieve a handsome retention package so I am staying untilt he end however, I have been looking through whats out there these days and I have come to the realization that I need my CPA in addition there probably will not be a better time to study and take it. … so with that being said what Prep courses do you all recommend …

    Thanks
