2012 CPA Exam Pass Rates Released

    Very interesting how all four parts exceeded a 50% pass rate in the third quarter and then they all dropped in the 4th quarter. It's as if the AICPA was like, “Hey, this exam is starting to be too easy. Let's make the exams harder and curve them less.” Makes you wonder…..

    I saw these the other day. I wonder if Q3 is inflated from the “extra” passing scores that were corrected?

    For some reason the Q3 scores really bugged me…do we know for sure the exams are curved?

    I've been tracking these for 3+ years … Q3 is always the strongest of the year.

    Do you have any theories as to why the third quarter scores are higher? Football season? lol

    I have heard two theories why Q3 is stronger:

    1. recently graduated students trying to pass before beginning their jobs or it's required for their new jobs

    2. after busy season, people have more time and want/need to pass.

    both are just things I've picked up reading forums and both make sense. however, I would think Q3 would be the lowest because it's summer! 😛

    There is no “summer” in CPA-studying-land lol well I know for some of you there is, for me it didn't exist. Which is how I passed FAR in Q3!

    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!

    By “summer” I meant no tax season 🙂

    Grads have something to do with it as well.
