Hi guys! Here are my stats:
* Canadian citizen, US resident. I’ve lived in the US since 2007.
* 4 year undergraduate engineering degree from a top Canadian School
* MBA 2009 grad from a top-15 US school.
I am currently working on compiling the accounting course hours necessary for a Massachusetts non-reporting CPA license.
One hurdle that I have is that I did my undergraduate degree in engineering in Canada.
None of this engineering degree will count towards CPA accounting/business requirements, but I think I need to include this as part of my150 hour requirements.
A few questions:
The NASBA Licensing website says:
APPLICANTS WHO OBTAINED THEIR EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES MUST HAVE AN EVALUATION REPORT COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BY NASBA INTERNATIONAL EVALUATION SERVICES OR THE CENTER FOR EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTATION (CED).
These are my questions:
1) I think I will need to have some kind of International Credential Evaluation done for my undergraduate education, even though I don’t need it to satisfy the accounting-course requirements? Or are some Canadian etc schools exempt from this?
2) Should I get the $300 “International Credential Evaluation for CPA Examination/Licensure for Undecided Jurisdiction” from NASBA International Evaluation Services ?
( https://nasba.org/products/nasbainternationalevaluationservices/services-and-fees/ )
3) Or should I get a $175 “Evaluation for CPA” from the Center for Educational Documentation (CED)?
( https://www.cedevaluations.com/application_form.html )
4) Or do I need to get BOTH 2) and 3) ? Are they substitutes for each other? Is one better than the other?
It’s all kind of confusing.
