Hi, first post here. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself!

    I’m a career changer – was a chef in Toronto/NJ/NY/NC

I became interested in accounting while getting my BA in culinary management, but didn’t consider it as a career until recently. Now I’m about to begin my MBA program at UNC Greensboro this fall.

I have no prior accounting experience and only 3 accounting courses under my belt (hope to take more courses outside of the MBA). I don’t plan on taking the CPA exam for another 2 years, but I’ll be using this forum for motivation and encouragement until then.

Thanks for making this place the great resource it is.

    Welcome!

Just a quick side note (because I am fascinated with the differences between Canada and USA-I live close to the border), make sure you check requirements to sit for the CPA in NC. You may need different accounting courses etc. Plus the requirement differ from Canada's version – Chartered accountant.

I don't want you to plan on taking the exam and not have the education requirements 🙂
