    Hello-

I just passed my last exam and have been on the phone with the NJ state boards about getting licensed. My current position for the past year has been “Logistics Data Analyst”, however I also work in accounts payable and procurement. My question is, do you think I will be approved with this position if I can show I meet the 25% experience requirement?

I’m starting at a CPA firm in September but I would much rather get my license ASAP rather than waiting.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Can you clarify what you mean by 25% of the work experience. Does all of your experience total 100%?

    Thanks!

In the application there's a checklist of accounting tasks in industry. I was told that a combination of these tasks must be done 25% of your time and you don't have to do them all.

My understanding is that you only have to do accounting work at least 25% of the time in your job? I do budgeting, forecasting, etc but then I also do a lot of analysis work unrelated to the accounting field. So in my situation, unrelated work would be about 75%.

Funny, I was on the phone with them yesterday, about a very similar thing. The 25% requirement does not seem to be in line with the rest of their documentation and one of the women didn't even seem to know what I was talking about when I mentioned that I had no time spent falling in the first section.

Anyway I have multiple years experience, and at least two under the supervision of a New Jersey license CPA, but all my experience is in Private Industry which is section 2. According to both people I spoke to, this would not make a difference, all you need is quote one year of experience under the supervision of a CPA. She said it does not matter or government.

Either way my manager is not going to lie on the form so I guess it will take a few months before I find out what happens, because all my time will be in the second section.
