I plan on taking the first part in the beginning of July because i graduate from the masters program in May so i want 1.5-2 months to study.

I heard the applicatiion process takes along time so i was wondering when should I start?

I am in New York if that matters

You should apply when you have the minimum requirements to sit. Once you apply there is no rush on when they make you sit for the exams.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

It can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to process your application, so I would apply sometime in May. After you apply, you will receive your NTS, which gives you six months to take as many exams as you signed up for.

For CA our degree had to conferred on the transcripts so even though I graduated in May I wasn't able to send in my application until July. But I am not certain of NY rules, I would check to be sure there isn't a similar rule.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!
