Virginia Exam Requirements

Hi all! I’m applying for the CPA exam in Virginia and had a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

Under the “education requirements” section on the VBOA website, it lists a bachelor’s or higher as a requirement in order to take the CPA exam in Virginia. I graduated this past weekend and my final grades aren’t posted, neither has my degree processed on my transcripts. Is this something I should wait for before sending in my transcripts? That just seems like a ton of wasted time to me as it takes schools weeks to post these, but I wanted to make sure.

Also, should I send my transcript before applying for the exam? Or apply first?

Like I said, I’m very new to this process but VERY excited to get it started!

Wait for your grades to post, have your transcripts evaluated and then apply. They're very quick on the evaluations. You can still study in the meantime.

    AUD - 65, 89!
    REG - 70, 89!
    FAR - 78!
    BEC - 77!

    Finally!

Yes you have to wait for them to post and make sure you have taken all the required classes like Intermediate I&II, auditing, tax. (if you graduated with a bachelors, you should be okay)

I live in Virginia and wanted to take it for VA but instead I am taking it for the state of SC because of Virginia's education requirements. They say you actually have to have a physical bachelors degree in hand to even sit. I have 148 credits as we speak and have completed my bachelors in accounting but haven't walked across the stage till December when I finish my marketing degree. Their requirements make no sense [to me] personally.

    BEC 8/14/14 - Passed
    Graduated from college 12/13/14
    AUD 8/31/15 - 74. Retake - Passed
    REG
    FAR

if you don't want the break, get the review course and start studying. Regarding your transcript, you have to wait until grades are posted.Good luck
