I will hopefully complete the CPA exam soon. As it stands now, I do not technically meet the experience requirements for licensure because I am not supervised by a licensed CPA. However, my state has a “substantial equivalent” standard for the experience requirements. In other words, if I can show that my current experience is the “substantial equivalent” of the technical experience requirements (i.e. a year of accounting-related work experience under a licensed CPA), then I will be eligible for licensure. I am reasonably sure that I can achieve this.
My question is regarding moving to another state that does not use the “substantial equivalent” standard. If I get licensed in my state and decided to move to another state 6 months later, will my license automatically transfer even though the new state does not use the “substantial equivalent” standard?
