I passed AUD in NJ, then moved to California and finished the last 3 exams here. After passing the last exam, the CA Board of Accountancy is telling me that they won’t accept the AUD score from NJ because I sat for the exam before completing the CA education unit requirements. They are telling me to retake AUD here in CA. Can they do that? If so, what would be the best thing to do to avoid having to retake the exam?

Is there an appeal process? Use that.

Or just see if you can talk to someone who is a supervisor.

Sure CA can, its their state…How long before your 18 month rule expires? It might not be worth it to rely on an appeal and the red tape. I thought Nj had stricter education reqs than CA? Worst case scenario get cpa in Nj then see what you need to do to transfer to CA

yea I would transfer the scores to NJ and then just transfer the actual license back to California.

FAR: 7/17/10 missed exam FML reschedule 8/29/10-77 EPIC!
    REG: 5/31/11-73 SMH, 8/31/11-85
    BEC: 4/15/10-72 : retake 10/3/10-80
    AUD: 11/28/10-74, 02/27/11-71 FML, 8/1/11-80
    Ethics 10/22/22-80, retake 11/28/11 - 88

Thank you for your advice. I have until August 2012 to complete AUD so I'm not too rushed. I've contacted the CA Board of Accountancy and they are looking into my file. If all else fails, I probably will retake AUD… that's probably the most simple thing to do.

Herbieherb, when I took the exam in NJ, I could replace two accounting classes with business law. Now that I look for that information, I can't find it anywhere! I don't know where I got that information. Anyway, I was short one accounting class in California. I took more accounting classes in California, but since I took them after I started sitting for the exams, they are saying it doesn't count. I'm still working with them on this.

The CA Board of Accountancy is set on requiring me to retake AUD. I'm thinking of transferring my scores back to NJ, but I'm just afraid it's going to haunt me later down the road. Still trying to figure things out… :0(
