I’m having issues with deciding which box to check in regards to my work experience. My job is to prepare financial statements, such as prepare all the entries for revenue, deferred rent, amortization of license fees, depreciation, etc. I just don’t see anything that clearly relates to what I’m doing on the form. I believe the closest is “Prepares reports on financial statements” but I’m not issuing reports on the FS I’m creating the FS. So I was thinking maybe I could pick ” Attest services to include audits, compilations, reviews and other assurances and engage in accordance with professional standards” since I am compiling FS for review by management. I called the Qualifications division and they were little help, “just pick the one you think is the closest. We’ll review your submitted job description” UGH I thought this would have been a question with a clear answer from them! What did others pick who had the same type of job description?

    AUD - 72, 81
    FAR - 71, 78
    REG - 60, 78
    BEC - 60, 71, 71

IF I FALL, I WILL GET BACK UP. IF I AM BEATEN, I WILL RETURN.

I’m also from Texas and do similar work and that is what I would pick. To me your duties would not be attest services. As part of the packet you will have to submit a job description that lists what you do. I think after reviewing that document they will understand how that is the closest option.

On the work experience page of the TSBPA website there is a section that says “…and the use of independent judgment, applying entry level or higher professional accounting knowledge and skills to select, correct, organize, interpret, and present real-world data as accounting entries, reports, statements, and analyses extending over a diverse range of tax, accounting, assurance, and control situations.” Which is not specifically preparing reports on the financial statements but applying your accounting knowledge in a way that makes the financial statements in line with GAAP.

    I hope this helps.

I'm also from Texas and my boss choose a few for me: Fin stmts, tax returns, internal audit (which I do all of these in my work)

What I am having a problem finding is an example CPA Experience letter my boss could follow. Does he use is resume or does he write a paragraph of his experience on company letterhead? I wrote the TSBPA but no answer back. Either one of you have an example by chance?

    AUD - 74 (3x), TBD
    BEC - Sept16
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD

When I was searching for an answer to my question I ran across a post on here saying that her boss just submitted his resume as the experience statement and it was accepted. Since it just is a statement I was going to have my supervisor submit a letter maybe 5 or so sentences stating his previous work experience and his license is current and in good standing, nothing too fancy. You might also try calling (512) 305-7851. That is the direct line to the qualifications department.

Wanted to close the loop on this topic in case someone has this same question later on. I heard back from the Director of Qualifications that I should choose:
    1)Issuing reports on Financial Statements
    2)Providing management services
    3)Preparing tax returns

    AUD - 72, 81
    FAR - 71, 78
    REG - 60, 78
    BEC - 60, 71, 71

IF I FALL, I WILL GET BACK UP. IF I AM BEATEN, I WILL RETURN.
