Texas Authorization and Release Form…is this for real?

According to the TSPBA’s Authorization and Release form that I recently submitted, I was required to authorize and request that every person/firm/corporation/school/employer/etc that has OPINIONS about me or any kind of records related to me to reveal and provide these opinions or records. They are going as far as asking any parties related to me for something like an opinion…? Seems somewhat bizarre to me, especially the “opinions” portion. Anyone have any insight on this just out of curiosity? Thanks.

Are you referring to the application of intent packet? Welcome to the complete lack of privacy of being a CPA. =)

To be fair, TSBPA did not contact anyone I know or my employers. I think it is a blanket release if they had a reason to investigate you.

I don't remember that being part of the process, but then I did that about two years ago. (The capstone course at my university was an exam prep course, and our first assignment was getting that intent in the mail.) So, I guess it could have changed since I applied, or maybe it just wasn't a big deal. I bet that auslaf is right about it just being for if they have a reason to investigate you.
