Hey there all. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’m getting ready to get mixed up in this whole CPA exam business, and I want to ask this before I get too busy planning how I’m gonna drain my time and money into this thing: in Tennessee, you have 200 days after you take your first section to attain your 150 hours. My question is, can you only take that one section until you get your 150? I am fairly certain that the answer is no, and that you can take more sections (or even all four, if you feel inspired!) before then, but I just want to be sure. Otherwise, it would seem sort of silly to take one section and then have to wait over 6 months to be able to take another, when I could spend the extra time procra—-preparing for the first section I take.

    Thanks for the help! 🙂

Another Tennessean here. I started to take the CPA exam before I finished my Masters back in 2008 but got a job early and put it off. I was issued a NTS with 2 sections. At the time, there was no issue passing them all before the 200 days if you so chose. Assume its still the same now but it may be worth a call to the proper authorities.

Lord, please give me a ready recollection of the things I have studied. Amen.

You can take more than one section before the 200 days is up. I am still finishing classes that I should be done with in May. I got approved and sat for FAR in February and passed. Right after that, I got a new NTS for AUD and BEC and have already scheduled those for April and May. I still have not finished the last 2 classes but that was not a problem for me to start the next exams.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 90
    BEC - 85
    REG - 75 DONE!
